Hello all,
this is my first post as I dont actually have a husaberg yet. I have ridden xr650r's xr400s xr250s and some street bikes. I am 19 so I havent had a chance to gather up a whole bunch of bikes haha. Currently ride an old xr250r.
So, theres a pretty good deal on a 2004 fe501 near me. The owner says it doesnt run right now because it needs a kickstart spring. Is that a legit reason it wont run? Would that inhibit the electric starter from working?

From what i know the 2004 model is more rare, it has updated engine parts and is overall more reliable that the older 00-03 models. Where do you guys get parts for your bikes? I know it will need a rebuild at some point and I would like to know where to get a top end kit or something along those lines.
Thank you all

caveat emptor
needs a bit of info as to how it is known and how it happened and whether it's just a smoke screen,

as ned says, how can we tell?

one of the best Husabergs ever produced and if a genuine 2004 model it is a rare bike. it was said that Husaberg only made them in 2004 to use up excess stock of parts but it was a beauty.

if the kickstart arms is snapped you can still turn the engine over and return the lever. but if it starts, your foot will be at 6 o clock the return ratchet will be rattling away like a lewis gun!!! wouldn't really do any harm in a few moments.

I do the parts for these things!

How do u tell the difference between
2004 fe550e and
2004 fe 501e ?
My 550 has head and rocker cover
Both say 498 rocker has E also ?

Thanks guys! I will ask him how it broke and how many hours etc it has. People around here dont really describe what theyre selling so they tend to not sell very fast. If im not mistaken it is an electric start as well correct? So i could at least turn it over? Anything I should look for other than the general checks?

I would be surprised that it were an 04 501, as I thought those models were EU only, or possibly it was that BMG didn't import any. Post pics, specifically around the ignition cover and carburetor area....

The 501 has the engine nr. 800 most of the time.
810=450
815=550
820=650

Hi Fry

Australia, the Uk and Europe got a few each so i'm not sure why the USA wouldn't have taken a few?

My FE501e 2004 is about 1m from me, I can stroke the front tyre! I've rebuilt is but not run it. needs a rear taillight assembly.

I like 500 singles!

it is Lee, yes. I got it this summer. It won best Nimp at the N(ew) Imperial rally and best 'other' bike next door at the Velocette owner's meet.

its a 1932 Model 17. the first year of unit construction. they didn't make UC anywhere till 1957 elsewhere in the BMi which was 25 (yes twenty five) years later in the rest of the BMi (accepting the DKW 'BSA Bantam and shaft drivers).

also the first year of rear suspension as an optional extra. the two together make it a very rare british Mo-sheen.

they only made 300 in 4 years and this is the only one left complete. there are 3 others one in the Museum at Modena (rough) and two more in the UK looking like a dog's dinners/heinz 57ers.

But I'm riding it where the old owner just showed it. I've found a lot of bad things in it mechanically but we'll have it sweet for the spring.

I have over 200 books on the BMi.

hope you're well, Cornergrass racing still aboot?

what's it look like? i might have one

I admire the tenacity it takes to keep a bike like this, a gentle hand to ride it and a smart one to keep it running and in shape. Well done Taffy!

CGRT is a thing of the past. Great while it lasted, times change and life moved along.

My kids are in university now so I've plugged back into racing by getting involved in the ISDE again. Pretty pumped on how that is working out and grateful for the chance to be involved.

Merry Christmas Mate
