I realise this is treading over old ground here, but I wanted to hear from berg riders that have gone from del orto equipped bikes to the new keihin (?) equipped bikes. My 99 400 would get no less than 38 mpg, no matter how hard I rode it. As i read more and more magazine articles about various bikes, it seems they all get about 40 miles to a 2 gallon tank. That would be ktm, honda, yamaha, etc. These bikes all share the same carb/ignition combo as the new bergs. Are the new bikes really only getting about 20mpg? Furthermore, the del orto carb seemed like it didnt care what elevation it was at , it simply didnt have jetting issues. Are the new carbs like this?

There is a rumor floating on this board that the jetting on the 24 DR test bike got up in the 30+'s for MPG but we are all waiting with baited breath for the jetting specs....

to certian extent I would ASS u ME it is a jetting issue...

i have on several occasions gotten 70+ miles trailriding my 98 400 with 2 gal tank at altitudes around 5-6000 feet. no dellorto tho. using a mcphoony.
