OK, seems like Justin's post about old bikes is getting quite a following, and most posters are just remembering back about the good ole days. So I will go one further. What was everyones first bike? That is if some of you old timers can remember back that far!!

Mine was a 1975 or '76 Honda XR75. I got it when I was 7 I think, back in 1978 I guess. Probably put a million plus miles on that bike. By the time I retired that little bike it looked like it had been in a crash up derby. Dents all in the tank, fenders broken off and no side plates. The bars had been straightened so many times that I don't know how they held together.

My very first bike was a 1965 Sears Mini Bike just like the one pictured here except it was green. My dad worked at a VW dealership as a Bodyman and tricked it out for me. He made a springer front end, like an early Sachs, for it out of the hood springs for a VW bug. The muffler was borrowed from a bug also and sounded awesome. I was 5 years old and could not believe my good fortune.

When I was 11 I got a 1971 Yamaha 90 HT1 MX. I was offered the choice between the Yamaha and a 1971 Honda SL 100 which would require "stripping down" to be trail worthy. I chose the Yamaha and loved that bike till I blew it up. At 14 I got a serious bike. A 1974 Honda 125 Elsinore. When they first came out in 1973 my parents made a deal with me. If I could come up with 1/2 the money for the bike they would pay the other half. Well I got a job at night washing dishes (probably breaking every child labor law) and promptly saved up. They didn't think I would do it and reneged on the deal. I showed them. I saved up the full amount and plopped down $1000 cash for a new 125 Elsinore with a "skid plate installed". That taught me a very good life lesson to rely on yourself and to work for what you want.

A 1960's vintage Bridgestone 90, it had a rotary gear box that went N-0-1-2-3-4-0-1...., trying to hit fifth but getting nuetral was one thing, but downshifting from 1st to nuetral to 4th on a downhill on a drum brake bike in the rain was unreal dangerous. I wish I had it as a momento.

In 71 by the age of 9 I got a 1967 Zundapp 50 cc 3 speed that already had bent rear shocks. I used to run down a hill to get it started then jump up on it
? 2 more Zundapps

[HISTORY]
around 79 got a yard cart like the one pictured above that I had to share with my brother.

A year later, I inherited his Trail 70. Rode that until I ran it into an orange tree and killed it :(

Then inherited his metal tank Honda 75.

Finally upgraded to my own cr 60 WooHOO(age 10 1984)
Sold it when we moved in 86

No bikes until 97-98

98? my brother bought me a 92 Honda CR 125 that was great fun riding. Sold it in 2000 to pay for the handy-dandy server we are typing on now :)

My first motorcycle was a 1972 (I think) Honda CB500 street bike, orange and black.

Sold it and bought a 1979 Yamaha YZ400 (no kids, it wasn't a four stroke). Most ill handling dirt bike I've ever ridden but I didn't know it at the time. Gobs of power WITH a flexible chassis.

First bike I ever had was a hand-me-down mid 70's Kawasaki 65 or 80 from one of my cousins. Moved from Michigan to Arizona a year later and the bike stayed up north. After several years without a bike I picked up an '87 CR125 and rode it for about 3 years before selling it because the rear hub break was wearing through the housing and I couldn't aford to fix it. Next bike was a '86 XR350 with the 2 ton desert tank. What a beast that bike was for my scrawny little ***!!! Sold the bike and picked up my first quad, '01 TRX400EX which I owned until last year. Never could excape the feeling of owning a bike. The quad purchase was due to a nagging wife that," Thought it was safer", and I had to do the right thing.....   After the divorce two years ago :D :D :D I got rid of the 4 wheeler and bought the bike I had been drooling over since my friend bought his '01 KTM520EXC, The Husaberg!!! Although I had wanted the 501 years earlier, I went with the 550. Cheers!!!

Frist bike

Let see, I think it was a mid-60's step-through Honda Trail 70. Darn if the gas tank under the seat didn't break loose from the landings! Not sure how I survived that bike, but one years worth of paper-route earnings were enough in 1972 to buy a brand-spanking new Honda SL100. ($450). Thanks for the memories. :D bd

1991 Husaberg FE350!!!!!!

Though, I had a go-kart at the age of 6. (I was always a small dude, so it surprised people to see me holding the *** end out around turns at the age of 6!)

My dad helped me buy a well used 1974 DT 100. Watching the movie Dumb and Dumber reminds me of riding it. I got it in the fall and rode it until the snot would freeze under my nose!! The throttle cable broke, sent me into stand of trees WO, fortunately a hole in the ground induced a crash, avoiding the trees. I left that bike there for days, until my father told me that I should get back on the horse. If he only knew that I would make him grey!!!!!!

first and then what I have now.

The first bike for me was a 73 Suzuki TS 100.The bikes I have now are a Yamaha XS11 1978 and my Husaberg 96 FE501.Both are strong runners.

My first bike was a 1984 honda xr 200 with dual rear shocks and drumb brakes front and rear. That bike broke every ride but was great fun. Then I jumped up to my current 2000 yamaha yz426. Which I might be selling heer soon. Hmmmm. Maybe i'm going to go and test ride a new berg!
