Hi all ive used the search facility and found a few topics on oil, Ive just purchased an FS650E an the oil level in the window is right to the top is this a bad thing having read it shouldnt be more than halfway also what grade of oil would be best as im going to change it

Regards Phil.

Go to the www.amsoil.com/literature.aspx find and read the g554 & g2156 and see byyourself which is the best oil in the world this time with official prooves not talks. use 10-40 mcf in temps on 15 c degrees and 0-40 aff in temps down from 15 c.the second i prefer it for more hp in stretracing use and is a energy saver too.

You can see the right level of oil in my gallery.this is after change oil and bike engine work for a minute.

Thanks for the advice guys much appreciated,

I see the oil level in your gallery is that when the bike is cold or warm?

Phil.

Put a quart of oil not much. After oil change you must start the bike for a minute.then shut the engine and wait a few minutes to go the oil down from head.you must see this oil level like my gallery photo.a good oil change is to put the bike 3 times down and get up again.the crankshaft does not empty with first time.it keep 200 gr oil inside.dont forgett to change oil filter every 2nd oil change.

about 800 cc's will put it at the bottom of the window.......I recently discovered I used to put too much oil....bottom of the window seems to make the bike feel alittle different....better ????

Hi guys i drained the old oil last night and there was a good litre in it, but the litre seemed to make it sit at the top of the sight glass.

When i refill il try 800cc and see where it brings it too :)

Phil.

You have to let the bike sit a while before the level, "levels out". Also, make sure the bike is on a stand so it's not leaning... :D

I believe you should be running 1 quart (946ml) after routine oil changes and ~ 1.25 quarts (1200ml) after a complete rebuild. With the small oil capacity of the Husabergs and their tendency to leak a bit, older bergs anyhow, I run 1000ml of oil during all my oil changes. I simply measure 500ml x2 from a gallon bottle of Delo400 and pour happily :D . I clean my Scotts reusable oil filter at every oil change. No problems at all and my oil fills the site glass 3/4 when cold.... Hope this helps.

Regards,
