hello again
i have recently replaced the seals located in the clutch cover, i had oil coming out of the small hole at the front of the cover. i had a few small rides, all was ok.
so this morning i went out for 2 hours and on return i had oil coming out of the hole again.
any advice ???

Sounds like you need to replace the waterpump bearing and seal.

whosaberg looks like you have redo, there is a seal on the bearing that
the shaft rides on, that seal appears to be leaking the only way to get that seal is to buy bearing assembly from husaberg dont forget to replace waterpump seal when you replace bearing assembly since you most likely damage seal when take it apart
See ya

There was also a tread not to long ago where someone mentioned plugging the hole with something like JB weld or equivalent and redrilling at a different angle as some times the angle was not correctly established from the factory. I will try to find the post and link it in.

Regards,

Here is a link to thread I mentioned in my earlier post. Read AlanNMS post about redrilling the weep hole.

Also: If you do a search in the forums with the key work "weep" you will find many other posts about this very thing...

I have also included this link:

The link above also has pics of the "infamous leaking weep hole" as well as some part numbers that husabutt has included for those with this problem.

ok here is the full story, 3 weeks ago before i knew this site exsisted i had the bike repaired by a ' mechanic ' . he had done bergs before so i figured he would do a better job than me .
the invoice states
new warter pump bearing & seal
new warter seal
the spelling alone is cause for concern, what he really did do who knows ?

the waterpump shaft has a small 'o' ring fit it as well. that may have been missed.

regards

Taffy

i have spoke with the fellow who did the job, he said he did not change the o ring which taffy mentioned. the problem with the location of said hole seems to be on earlier bergs is this true? . i have to pull the cover off anyway should i replace the whole lot as i dont want to take the cover off again.
[ do it right the 1st time]

what should i do ???

i contacted my dealer and told him of the problem and he said bring your bike in and husaberg will fix it because it is a design fault . i said but it is out of warranty he said it does'nt matter just bring it in . thanks to my dealer tom in perth , west aust :D

Hey what year is your Berg? If you download the 2004 or 2005 repair manual from www.husaberg.se in the engine reassembly section it tells you exactly how to install that clutch cover so that you will not have an oil leak. You need to replace the balancer shaft(water pump shaft) seal which is really an O-ring and you need to install the cluth cover using the special Husaberg tool(a plastic shaft cover). It cost about $9.00 an the part number for it can also be cross referenced to KTM as can 90% of parts for 04 models and up
Don't take my word for it check out the manual.!
There is a seal attacched to the water pump bearing that none of the manuals show(parts or repair) and its not an expensive bearing to replace since you are going to have the cover off anyway.
The reason I am giving such an extensive reply is that my dealer and
I have gone through all of this only to discover that my balancer shaft(water pump shaft) groove "where the O-ring sits" is flawed and the only way to completely dry my oil leak which is barely weeping now is to split my cases and replace it.
Not completely happy about my new Berg experience.

i didn't end up taking it to the dealer , i fixed it myself .

you are right it is a design fault , i tried to fit a slightly larger 'o ring but it would not go into the bearing . the 'o ring needs plenty of grease , i have a slight leak now but i can live with it . i also used 3 bond on the outer circumference of the seal and bearing that fits into the case , on the advice of dale lineaweaver .

as i said previously it is a small leak now only when i really make the motor work hard .

the way i see it is the odd leak here and there is a small price to pay for such radical weaponry , in the form of the mighty husenberg . :brave:

i have 2005 fe 450 and i have noticed that there is always some sort of fluid that weeps out of the side of the water pump since my first ride on the bike.
does this happen to weep when the bike gets hot as well?
