I supposedly had this fixed like 2 Months ago (leak1) by my berg dealer this is the worst it has got as I have just done a two day 600k desert ride.

Please let me know if this is normal etc

The second leak has seemed to be there since day one of owning my new berg 6 months ago

See my gallery for pics of leaks

My FE501e has had the clutch cover off a couple of times, and from new and after replacement i have never had a leak that bad, or close to it.

note in the workshop manual that Husaberg recommend a bit of silicon around the front and rear areas of the gasket. There is also a longer screw front and back which i presume allows some more tightening capacitiy due to a longer thread.

Has the gasket been torn and replaced????has the clutch cover or left case been damaged???

all i can suggest is to get a new gasket and try again!!!!

The joys of european bikes!!!!

Have Fun

You are talking about the leak near the kickstarter.

My Berg dealer says that this is normal??

What about the leak near the radiator hose??
(it looks to be coming from the weep hole behind the hose not he gasket seal of the clutch cover like the one at the back)

my berg has neither of these leaks

I couldn't tell exactly where front one coming from in picture, and have never had a problem like you describe at the weep hole. sorry, can't offer much help :(

maybe some one who has had this problem themselves can shed some light?????

Have Fun

ps

looks like you're about to lose the nylon stopper for the kick starter in the clutch cover!!!doesn't seem to be sitting in square!

Hi Faktor,

The leak from just behind the kick-start is as a result of inadequate support for the kick lever due to a large span between cover screws.
Later years feature an additional support and two piece clutch cover.
Said late cover may be fit to your model with modification and / or simply apply a firm bead of RTV silicone to the gasket area prior to assembly.

The weep hole leak has been a source of frustration from inception and has not been 100% addressed as of yet. Please do a site search for additional information.

For the later I personally install a small spigot with a bleed line affixed, routed below and away from the engine. This keeps things tidy even with the leak.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
Dale

I have the clutch cover leaks on the 01 and 02. Since I clean the bikes and change the oil after every ride it does not seem to be an issue. It seem to leak just bad enough to look ugly, but not enough to be a problem. You might try Dale's recommendation on the clutch cover. As for the water pump, my 470 leaked like that. I replaced the bearing and seal and it has been fine since.

I am new to burgs and have waited a long time for them to get it just right, i moved over from a nice oil tight yam wr.
The 1st time i rode me burg i could of cried when i got home, the fuel cap had leaked and the fuel had stained the tank  ,and i think moving my breather tube to oil the chain was a bad mistake, the hole near the water pump had let out oil all over the motor, and some dribbles of oil had come from the valve covers :( ,
I gave me self a day or two cleaned it all off and just thought never mind the rest of it is good, now i just wash it off as part of me pre next ride service.
forget the leeks and keep riding

Just a bit of info. In the process of rebuilding my 02 470. I found a small O-ring on the water pump shaft tore, just under the clutch cover. My 470 alway's leaked a little oil out the weep hole. I’m replacing it in hopes of rid'ing my self of that oil leak. As for the other oil leaks? My Berg never leaked oil any where else in excess, until my counter shaft driver bearing failed. On inspection I found a piece of the bearing cage stuck in the reed valve. So maybe we should start checking all our reed valves, when we start seeing excess oil leakage?

Thanks guys for the input.

So the general rule about the weep hole at the front is that 01 and 02 modles always do it and there is no real way to fix it?

And to fix the leak near the kick starter I need to use silicon on the gasket as well when i put it on?

Any one have any other fixes?

I found with my bike that due to poor tolerances of the side cover
the water pump shaft oil seal ended up could move and actually go past
the edge of the weep hole. I'd suggest do a trial fit of the cover (with a
gasket) then pull the cover off and see where the bearing and seal end up.
I had to put a spacer (an ID circlip) into the sidecover to properly locate
the seal. Make sure it's not too thick or the case will warp when you bolt
it up.

Also make sure the nut on the shaft is loctite'd and properly torqued as
mine came loose and destroyed (yet another) seal.

All post 2000 engines are predisposed to the dreaded weep hole leak. Potential of said leak is a design glitch.

Very careful attention to detail during final assembly using new seals, o-rings and gaskets will insure you the best possible seal.

:bash:I FIXED MY OIL LEAKS BY COVERING EVERY THING WITH SILICON GASGET SEALER .
ALL AROUND AND BOTH SIDES OF THE GASGET AND MAKE SURE YOU DO THE BOLTS UP IN THE RIGHT ORDER OR YOU WILL TWIST THE CASING OUT OF SHAPE.
ITS JUST PISS POOR MACHINING
AND MAKE SURE NO OIL TOUCHES THE SILICONE WHILE DRYING
ABOUT 24 HOURS TO SET
