Oil leak

Well after a bit of an interesting ride on the weekend, i have just noticed a pool of oil on the floor of my garage. on closer inspection( with no electricity in my garage) there is oil all over the front of the engine. does anyone have any thoughts on what could be the cause of this. i will not be able to have a proper look before Friday.
If i have to split the motor what else should i replace?
It's an 03 FE400
 
I had an odd oil leak. it was all over my left boot! i inspected all over the front of engine. and then the left handside!..then realised a fork seal had gone and was giving my boot the shiny look!!!
 
it'll be the front left hand corner of your head to camcover. to check just jetwash the bike and then start it up. it'll soon show!!!! the other placce (but unlikely) is the camcover breather pipe. the spigot it fits on actually unscrews from the cover and spews oil everywhere as it does!

tappet inspection covers? i run two a side and have no trouble!

Thanks Taffy, it appears that on closer inspection the cam cover breather pipe has split, which is a bit of a relief as it won't be a costly problem to fix.

Unfortunately the rubber on these breathers doesn't last too long and becomes brittle. Best advice I can give you, is to make sure everything is super clean when you put on the new breather, and do not over tighten the hose clamp, just snug. It will last longer that way. Also, try and make sure that when you put the new one on, twist it around a bit to find the best fit so that there is no binding at all.

With your bike you can carry an extra piece of 5/8" heater hose in your fanny pack with an extra hose clamp, and if it ever goes out on the trail you can just put the heater hose on the rocker box fitting, and slip the other end over the snorkel of the big end.
