I have a fe450 with 105 hours

There is an oil leak that is collecting on the underside of the engine.

There is a small screw plug next to the exhaust (part number 59030296000) that it appears to be coming from.

What is this for and could this be where the oil is coming from? If it was not and there are no obvious leaks from the oil lines could this be something more sinister? Blown gaskets?

I have checked the valve cover and the oil return line and the breather from valve cover to underside of the airbox and rechecked the oil level - all ok. The exhaust was a bit loose but assume any oil from there would be burnt off.

Any advice appreciated.

Buy a new washer seal for the bolt its the tdc locating bolt i think you are talking about.

Hi and thank you for the advice.

I removed the screw that I though the leak might be coming from, cleaned up the tread and applied the threadlock recommended in the repair book. All fixed now.

The screw has a very fine thread and when I took it out there was a mushy mix of oil and what I presume was the previous thread lock.

I'll keep an eye on it but for now no more oil leak
