hey guys, i have an 07 fe 450 and on my last ride i noticed that there was quite a bit of oil coming from what i assume to be a weep hole behind what i think is the water pump housing???? its just above the oil leavel window. i looked at the oil level in the window and it was low so i toped it up and rode home.I droped my oil out and put another 900ml in. i started the bike and after the engine was runing for 5 minutes or so the oil was weeping again.
has anyone else had a similar problem??

welcome to UHE mate, do tell us where in australia you're from?

this is an old problem.

all you need to do is drop the coolant (best place is the hose at the waterpump housing and catch the water as it comes out of both orofices) take the impellor out and you'll see the oil seal in ebind it.

you can get the seal out and replace it in situ but i brefer to get the cover off and change the seal in the cover. there is a factory tool that slips onto the shaft and protects the seal as you slip the cover past the circlip groove....

Taffy

I think we need to clear up a notion or something about those lines.
If your leaking oil from the weep hole then the o-ring on the shaft behind the
water pump bearing has failed or the bearing in the cover has lost the ability
to do what it should be able to do.If your leaking water then the seal has failed.

p.s. contact orange berg he has a kit for this fix & he can sell you the upgrade!

Hi deano87,
This is an ago old problem and has been solved by John and Aiden at Orange KTM/Husaberg in NSW. They have developed a kit that solves the problem for good. Give John a call on 02 63603800 and get it sorted. Give some thought to coming on the Oz Force Ride.

After three hours on my new 550, just noticed slight weep of oil from said hole. Have seal kit/mod on its way from John(orangeberg) to go in as soon as it gets here, or this weep gets worse!!!
