Hi

I have a new FE450 and wonder what KTM oil filters will fit as the original filter was marked KTM. The reason I ask is there is a KTM dealer 10 miles from me and the Husaberg dealer is 90 miles away.

Thanks

Bill

I'd Get A Scotts Stainless One,Just Rinse And Go Again.
Just Waiting For Mine To Arrive

Kez

I have looked at these but seem a bit pricey to mail from USA.
Where are you getting yours from?

Bill

Direct From The USA,I Looked At It This Was,I've Changed The Oil And Filter About 4 Times In 8 Hours,At Around £5 A Go It Soon Gets Costly.
I Like To Keep Clean Oil In The Engine,Last Owner Didnt And Has Cost Up Quite A Bit,Once The Oil Starts To Darken,I'll Change It After The Next Ride.

Muckybill,

If I may suggest, spend the few dollars/pounds now and pick up a good quality stainless screen type filter from SCOTTS. The price is about 60-70USD but over a years worth of riding it will pay for itself. The oil change regiment of the Husaberg is something you should not neglect and will be the single MOST IMPORTANT maintence routine if you want your Berg to last. With that being said, the stainless filter will keep particles as small as 5-10um (micron) from passing and can be used over again and again. The quality is A1 and worth every penny. Run the Delo400 15W-40 from Cheveron and changing the oil every ride is cheap insurance to ensure peace of mind. Do this and check your valve clearances regularly (every 10-15hrs or so) and your Berg will run like a top!!! Just my $.02!!!

Regards,

How hard are these filters to clean etc?

Is it easy to clean them?

Can we get them in Australia?

Very good advice keith. I do an oil change after every ride now, 1 litre of oil is cheap compared to engine parts and strip down. Looks like it`s the SCOTT filter for me.
Thanks guys

Muckeybill ,
The oil filters for Husabergs and Ktm 4T are indeed the same filters. All the KTM 4t engines have two filters and the one that is referred to as 1st filter is the one that is also a husaberg part. There is quite a selection of quality replacement filters for husaberg engines. My favorite next to the genuine is the HI FLO brand last four digits of the part # 0155.Price CDN $6.99 or under 3 quid.
It is true I am lazy,I do not even like cleaning air filters,no way am I going to clean a oil filter. 8)

factor/nsman,

The cleaning of the oil filter only takes about 5 minutes and its not labor intensive at all. I run mine under hot water so that the water is going into the hole at the end and pushing the oil and debris off the out side of the filter (this is also a good way of putting some lube on the spinning parts of your garbage disposal :thumb: ) after about 2 minutes of rinsing the filter under hot running water I use the air compressor to carefully dry off the filter. I sometimes will shoot it with some carburetor cleaner if I have some available and then set out in the (Arizona :hotsun: ) sun to dry for 10 minutes before reinstall. During the dry time this gives me the few minutes to do a once over the bike to check/clean other area of interest and slap everything back together. The whole thing takes about 20-30 minutes with oil change, cleaning my air intake boot (oil in frame backbone) and a good scrubbing with the toothbrush (I like to keep my bike super clean). This gives me a good peace of mind before each ride and also will ensure if I have a problem beginning with the internals on my bike that I should be able to catch it before it turns ugly! Hope this helps

Regards,

Thanks for all the info folks. I will be sticking with the Husaberg/KTM filters short term and the SCOTT filter will be going on my xmas list.
The Scott maybe only $60-70 but postage to the UK makes it $105 and right mow I am desperate for some new boots. :D
