Hi guys,

I was wondering if someone could help with mi 'bergs latest breakage.

I was riding home from work when a little man in the engine start knocking seven shades of **** out of the inside of the engine ('02 FS650E)

After limping home (no mobile / 'cell' phone middle of knowwhere) the knocking noise kept coming and going.

After removing R/H casing I found what looks like (after looking at the parts manual) the Oil connection nipple lurking in the casing. The casing is also ovaled where said nipple was located?

Do I just need to get the rest of the nipple out of end of the crank replace, replace casing and casing seal ring.

Or is it an engine out replace crank bearing?

Your help will be much appreciated as I need it running the bank holiday (28-30 May)

Many Thanks
Andy

Has the motor ever been apart? The connection nipple is not put under more than seal drag stress and should be in a tightening motion as the crank is turning.

I would look at what caused it to break. Maybe a bad main bearing??? That would possibly cause enough slop for it to break off and mess up the left case cover.

You should split the cases and have a look. The oil connection nipple is what supplies pressurized oil to the rod, and then splash oils the piston and main bearings.

Cheers fiend,

I almost have the engine out but I am strugglin' with the swingarm shaft. I have both nuts off and am presuming the shaft comes out the right-hand side.

Can anyone confirm this or got any cheats / advice on easy ways to remove.

Cheers

As long as you have the rear brake lever out of the way the swingarm pivot shaft should come out either side. Typically only one nut comes off, but I suppose yours may be rusted in place.
