Got oil leaking from weep hole, was just a few bubbles of water but now oil:(
From reading earlier threads on this much discussed subject I understand that the water pump seal can be changed by just removing the pump but to repair the oil leak the clutch casing needs to be removed?:unsure:
Now here's my problem;
Not easy when the motor is in a road chassis!:eek:
Drain fluids, rad off, exhaust off, engine cradle off, engine out....I've just put it back in!:(
Is there anyway to access oil seal through the pump?
What are the consequences of just leaving it until time permits a full repair and if so did I read somewhere that someone fitted a small tube into the weephole to channel oil away?
The amount being lost is practically nothing during a race but it's dropping onto the exhaust!
Many thanks

Hi canolman

unfortunately the oil seal can't come out through keyhole surgery

what you could do temporarily is replace the water seal through its cover and verify that its not leaking then tap a 3mm screw into the weep hole to seal it off

mine is tapped and i carry a few screws on long rides just in case

it would have been more clever to drill and tap it to a 4mm thread so i could borrow one from somewhere else on the bike.

as long as only the oil seal is bad the fluids won't mix with the hole plugged

i put a champher on the WP shaft as a lead in to make installation easier
