Hi,
I am not sure if my FE400 makes enough power.I got it second hand and after some time I got it I reliased that the oil pump had been stuck and thus it had been hardly lubricating. I fixed it but I doubt if it makes good power. I am not able to compare mine against any other 400. Thus I rely on your experiences.I am only able to do wheelie under hard acceleration only in 1st gear.I could never do wheelie in 2nd gear. I hope this information helps a bit for some answer.thanks.

the gearing is critical. 13/14T front and you'll get the wheel up but not with a 15T. the cam is the big difference. try and get an old '53' or one of mine. you also don't mention the year?

I have 2002-2003 transition year engine construction with '01' cam with long autodecomp but steel cam gear. Not yet checked the front gear will check it.Is back gear tooth also selectable or only the front gear?I would like to change the cam but not possible for a while due to budget. For now I only managed to get double spring kit.I am seeking for an affordable cam.maybe a used KTM race cam will be my choice as they are common and thus cheaper.

Taffy do you have some pics of the '53' and/or '08' cam showing its lobe profiles? Also thank you for the info.

Thank you a lot for the pics Taffy.I wonder what profile you do recommend for FE400.Does '08' cam has any advantages over '53' or is it too aggressive/excessive for 400cc?

should be fine. just check your valve to piston.

I checked the front gear.It is 14T and no wheelie in 2nd gear.
Also I readjusted valve clearances due to valve noise after top end rebuilt.they were maybe a little more than 1/6 turn previously but now I set them to 1/8 turn. There still exists little noise but it should be normal I think but now it is too easy to kick her.It would be almost impossible to define start position for kicking if I didn't know at what position it should be. The only resistance I feel through the kickstart lever are the valve spring pressures.I checked the clearances by hand after adjustment and I am sure there was play.I will check it again.can even little worn autodecomp have that much effect? I bought the new dutch clog autodecomp for easy starting but I haven't installed it yet.If nothing is wrong with the current adjustment maybe there will be no need for it for a while.Any comment for the easy kicking problem :p

Forgot to mention. It can lead to misadjustment with worn rocker roller pins but mines are in good condition I replaced them recently.
