This time we visited a familiar place, the nice track of VÃ¥ler, 180km north of Oslo. The Friday practise ended after 1,5 laps with a cracked piston! I moved over the cylinder head to my #1 engine bottom end for the Saturday qualify. That worked OK for 8-9 laps, until the silencer end piece was shot off. "Then mend it, dear Clementz".

The first race I got a really good start from the second row, 5th position. Just a slight wheelie through the first row and into the first corner as #2. Engine was pulling strong, the chassie and tyres were superb and I was hot as a Sunday fart. After 2 laps I breaked up to first position. We raced together with the norwegian RR250 class. The top driver overtook me halfway through the race and showed me a pace that wasn't totally impossible to follow. I kept pushing and crossed the finish line with glory and honor! I had to read the result list twice. I had set the new track record for supermonos! Very unexpected but fun!

At Sunday morning I was trying to fix the right radiator with some "Wondarweld". The radiator was OK, but now the engine oil was looking like milk. There was no time to find the cause (water pump shaft seal was OK), so I had to move the sleeve and piston over to the #2 engine... It took 4 hours take out one engine from the chassie, split both engines, assemble one and mount it. :signsigh: On the warmup lap I felt something fishy with the gearing. I looked down and then the gearing arm had come loose! As I was stuck with 5th gear I decided to run past the grid (not impressive to the officials) and head for the pits. The exit to fast lane is very sharp and not possible to take on 5th gear, as I found out the hard way. The front end slipped and I made a harmless (it seemed), embarrasing crash. Unfortunately I was punished hard as my collar bone broke. I do not think I said anything in the car back home for at least 3 hours... Luckily it´s 6 weeks to the next race and I kept my lead in the cup.

that's brilliant my dear clemenz!

the pain will be so much easier to bear now!

regards

Taffy
