Hi Gang - I joined the ranks of the mentaly derainged a few months back with a basket case 2000 Huzzy 600 e-start. My intent is a Motard frankenfeak bike. I just got tags for it (no inspections in S.C. !)
I have got it torn down and am ready to build it back up (including bead blasting the frame.)
Lots of questions - so if these have been covered already feel free to flame me for not researching enough. With a 5 month old daughter in the house my free time for projects has been drastically reduced.
1) Is it Who-saberg or Huzz-aberg !
2) Are you going to the local dealer to get parts are is their a cheaper place to get parts - piston, gaskets, brake pads, filters etc...............
3) Is their a cross-compatible KTM street rims available for the older models or do I need to scrape up a grand $$ for aftermaket rims? I would gather I will need a rubber loaded rear rim (can't think of the actual termonology)
4) This Delorto carb was a mess from sitting full of water for three years - finally got it apart after soaking in an ultrasonic cleaner bath for a week. But I am more familiar with the Jap carbs - What do you recommend ? Kiehin? and will one just bolt up to the intake? Or can I make the Dellorto a dead reliable street runner?
5) I'm thinking of an aftermarket oil cooler to increase capacity - where in the world do you tap into the motor? Speaking of oil - how is the oil fed into the head - I don't see any oil galleys - is it solely by the camchain draging oil to the top? Should I go ahead and change out the camchain and water impeller to the better grade?
6) I had a dealer I called on the phone recomend a Japanese cross-compatible stator assembly - you guys heard of this or is thier a place in the States to get a rewind done?
___ Guess that's it for now- feel free to flame if this is common knowledge.
I've got the owners Manual and I.P.C on disk, I need to locate a Shop manual soon.
Thanks to all - I'm sure I will be tapping your knowledge as it (hopefully) will be coming together !
