Hi Gang - I joined the ranks of the mentaly derainged a few months back with a basket case 2000 Huzzy 600 e-start. My intent is a Motard frankenfeak bike. I just got tags for it (no inspections in S.C. !)
I have got it torn down and am ready to build it back up (including bead blasting the frame.)
Lots of questions - so if these have been covered already feel free to flame me for not researching enough. With a 5 month old daughter in the house my free time for projects has been drastically reduced.
1) Is it Who-saberg or Huzz-aberg ! :D
2) Are you going to the local dealer to get parts are is their a cheaper place to get parts - piston, gaskets, brake pads, filters etc...............
3) Is their a cross-compatible KTM street rims available for the older models or do I need to scrape up a grand $$ for aftermaket rims? I would gather I will need a rubber loaded rear rim (can't think of the actual termonology)
4) This Delorto carb was a mess from sitting full of water for three years - finally got it apart after soaking in an ultrasonic cleaner bath for a week. But I am more familiar with the Jap carbs - What do you recommend ? Kiehin? and will one just bolt up to the intake? Or can I make the Dellorto a dead reliable street runner?
5) I'm thinking of an aftermarket oil cooler to increase capacity - where in the world do you tap into the motor? Speaking of oil - how is the oil fed into the head - I don't see any oil galleys - is it solely by the camchain draging oil to the top? Should I go ahead and change out the camchain and water impeller to the better grade?
6) I had a dealer I called on the phone recomend a Japanese cross-compatible stator assembly - you guys heard of this or is thier a place in the States to get a rewind done?
___ Guess that's it for now- feel free to flame if this is common knowledge.
I've got the owners Manual and I.P.C on disk, I need to locate a Shop manual soon.

Thanks to all - I'm sure I will be tapping your knowledge as it (hopefully) will be coming together !

Well, well, felix... welcome to the loony bin!

the best place to get parts IMHO would be Dan at Motoxotica [/img]http://www.motoxotica.com your local Husaberg shop may or may not be able to help you. it seems that there are only a few guys out there in the U.S. that can consistently get the parts you need.

First off, and it can't be encouraged enough, read the "the_doc" it will give you much of the info you need to know.

I believe that KTM rims will fit with adapters, there are people one here who have done it and the info is here.

The delorto is okay as long as it is in good shape and tuned right. Contact Dale Lineweaver for needles that will produce sheer pleasure. again people on here have converted to the kiehin. it can be done. again refer to the DOC.

a cush drive rear hub may be needed if your sticking to the street, easier on the transmission.

oil cooler setup are a common topic here, there a couple of set ups, search for OIL COOLER topics. search result

and it's a big negative on the converting to a another stator. it has been done by someone here, I think Maddel, don't know how it is working though. there is a guy out of Spain that has made a few U.S. guys happy with rewound SEM stators. his handle is "sparky" but he may be a bit hard to get a hold of as he is experiencing some internet issues lately.

all the downloads and documents you need are in the downloads section of this site or in the downloads section of the www.husaberg.se site (we have more though :) ) DON"T pay for them on e-bay!

we have some top notch motard guys here, they will help

Enjoy..

I am positive that someone will be along who can help you more than I...

1) Is it Who-saberg or Huzz-aberg ! :D OK IT'S WHOSABERG
2) Are you going to the local dealer to get parts are is their a cheaper place to get parts - piston, gaskets, brake pads, filters etc...............
3) Is their a cross-compatible KTM street rims available for the older models or do I need to scrape up a grand $$ for aftermaket rims? I would gather I will need a rubber loaded rear rim (can't think of the actual termonology) YOU CAN USE WHEELS FROM THE PRE '03s AND THEY BOLT STRAIGHT IN. ktm's (AGAIN PRE '03) FIT AND THEIR REAR WHEELS HAVE A RUBBER CUSH DRIVE (CUSH WAS THE WORD YOU WANTED)
I'VE DONE IT. LOOK IN THE DOC FOR INSPIRATION. GET IT RUNNING FIRST I THINK. DALE CHANGES THINGS ON THE CARB. HAVING SAID THAT, IF YOU READ ONE OF THE HYPERLINKS YOU'LL NOTE THAT JOEUSA SPILLS THE BEANS ON THE SUBJECT.
DON'T BOTHER, NOBODY ELSE DOES. ADD AN EXTRA .5 LITRE OF OIL AND REMEMBER THAT THE WATER COOLING IS VERY GOOD WHICH IS YOUR MAIN CONCERN ISN'T IT? (COOL RUNNING?)
6) I had a dealer I called on the phone recomend a Japanese cross-compatible stator assembly - you guys heard of this or is thier a place in the States to get a rewind done? SPARKS IS ABOUT AND DON'T BE FRIGHTENED TO SEND IT TO EUROPE. SPARKS IS AN ENGLISHMAN LIVING IN SPAIN. THEN AGAIN YANKS CAN NEVER UNDERSTAND ME SO MAYBE YOU OUGHT TO BE FRIGHTENED TO DEATH BY IT (lol!!!!)

please find answers within the above quote in capitals. let's see some photos come on!!!! you don't get off that lightly! let's have a before and - well let's hope we get an after!

welcome to UHE fella.

regards

Taffy

RE: Re: Noooob with lotso

And a BIG THANK YOU to everyone ! ! ! :D :D :D :D
I spent 10 years in the dirt and dual-sport and the next 15 on the street, but a lack of time to do mountain runs with the FZ1 are causing me to sell that one (an outstanding machine). I have always liked the motard look and have finally decided to go back to my roots with a dirt bike. Something to blast back and forth to work on to get my bike fix.
The bike is completely stripped down, the motor is half stripped down and am researching parts now.
As soon as I figure out how to transfer PIX I will post them up for ya !
