Ok maybe I am "hearing" something or not. A noise just a little noise near the kick start shaft not too loud but I can tell its there. Starts on the button ok and the kick too. Funny thing is that when the bike is running and I push on the kick lever none of that ratchet noise that you usually get. You know the anoying noise you get when you dont get your kicker all the way put away.
Ideas?? think the pawl is hanging up? But then the kicker works ok

WTF any thoughts? I really dont want to take off the side case and I dont think I can tell anything about the starting gears by just removing the clutch cover.

BTW 973 miles and 35.7 hours and the valves were spot on.

Thanks

Sounds like something is getting loose. I hate to guess what. If it bothers you a lot you might have to pull the cover and check. I think the best thing is, if its not broke then don`t fix it. I would check it if there are problems kickstarting like starting to bind or slipping. Find somebody who has had to replace kickstarter shaft near you that way will see what to look for.
Good luck

Bob,

Usually the noise you would here if you were to rotate the kickstarter while the engine is running would be the kickstart shaft engagement key rolling around the inside of the gear. I was thinking that maybe the key is not getting fully disengaged by the sledge after the engine starts running and is dragging across the tips of the gear that it actuates :?: This is just a theory after trying to think it through. I am going to post a link HERE for you to check out and give you a better idea of what im thinking. I wish I had a picture of the kicker shaft with the engagement key but I don't, hopefully you will know what im trying to get across. As I said, just a theory, but I wanted to put it out there for discussion sake. Hope your doing well.

Regards,

I was thinking the same thing about the sledge or pawl whatever you call it.
Hey it's under warranty :D I kinda like the it aint broke dont fix it but I just hate to be in the middle of nowhere and have something go. I lost a roller bearing on the starter idler on my last one and it cost a ton. Nothing in the oil change so maybe I will let it go but I know that it should make some noise when it is running and you try and engage the kick start. Gotta be the pawl. sh*t why why why :(
