I have a 95 400 berg that does'nt want to take any throttle, it sounds like it is breathing hard. I have cleaned the carb. and replaced stator for another prob. Any help is appreciated.

i know you've done a rebuild but could you tell us rather like a copper, what you've done and the events surrounding this incident?

has it run ok since the rebuild?

just give us as much info as you can.

Thanks for response, this is a different bike than the previous one that I had trouble getting parts for. This one had some work done (possibly new crank but not sure)by one or two previous owners and never would start correctly (very weak spark).
I replaced stator which got it starting easier than replaced flywheel and now it starts easy but wont take much throttle. When I put a timing light on it the timing does not advance at all. The carb. has been cleaned numerous times. Replaced stator, flywheel and cracked intake boot all from motoxotica, checked valve clearance and cam timing to the best of my knowledge (really bad timing marks)

there are no marks at all for the cam timing. please read the doc for how to do the correct cam timing. it involves a ruler - you'll find it.

if you have ever managed to make the bike rev, the ignition should have advanced to 72-80d BTDC. this is then halved for a true figure of 36-40d BTDC.

it could bethat the ignition timing is so ******** that it can't rev. however if the stator is somewhere in the middle you should be ok. so the ignition? clear question? what about it?

cam timing
tell us how you KNOW that it's OK?
