just got the engine for my 2002 Husaberg fe501s back, after a complete overhaul... everything has been changed inside the engine..

But now it is hard to start when cold... it e-start just spins when cold, and using the kick, I have to kick at least 20 times to get it starting!

any suggestions? valves should be correctly adjusted...

any carburetor settings that are "default"? adjusting the screws all the way in, and then 10 times back, or something? anyone!?

Help!

Turn the fuel mixture screw all the way in (clockwise) then back it out 1.5 turns. When the motor is good and warmed up, tweak this screw a little in or out to get your highest RPM then adjust the idle screw.

After I had work done on my 501, I had to go to a leaner pilot jet (33). It now cold starts quite well with the choke. E-starts well after the motor has been thoroughly warmed up.

Also try starting without the choke.

Do you have fresh new premium gas?
Did you install a new spark plug?
Did you make sure you have spark?

oh.. ok.. only 1,5 (one point five) times out, afther screwing it all the way in??? hmm... mine is about10 times around out, or something...

i also had problemes with getting a spark, but that should be corrected now, i think.... or maby the spark is to weak? is that possible? how to solve it!?

will try the screw first...

adjusted the screw, and it now starts in about 8-10 kicks... still irritating
;-)

"I had to go to a leaner pilot jet (33). " ?? where is this jet locaded in the carburator? picture? what is original size?

Once it has started you should be able to adjust the pilot and mixture screw.

I start mine 2 kicks (average) cold with no choke, but that's because Mister Dale worked on my carb.

Did you clean it up good?
