So is there a section for us newbies. I tried a search on the 1994 fc 501. plus looked at all the areas on the side bar.
i need info on this bike if anyone has some. I have been out of bikes since 1997. i am neck deep in rock crawling but missing some adrenline. back in 95 and 96 i was competing inhare scrambles or cross country depending on where you live. I am looking for a goof off bike that i can rip on if i want to. very little motocross track stuff more woods, open fileds, high speed jumps. and riding wheelies. most of the time trail riding....then see if this is what i want to get back into. then jump to a later model.......
what can you tell me about this bike. reliabiltiy, what to look out for, what it did great, what sucked about it,is it too much, too little. i dont like how soft an xr feels. xr 400 included......I like the power of a wider ratio type bike but the feel of a motocrosser... i am 5-11 185lbs....

thanks Mike G

I had a '94 FC 600 (is that what you are looking for, or a FE 501) I think they where the last models without the stainless steel exhaust. But i'm sorry to say that in that year a had a lot of gearbox troubles. In '95 they upgraded the gearboxes and had no troubles whatsoever. The '94 model was not my favorit one :( Oh yeah, i only race motocross so with the enduro models i have no idea, maybe anyone else?)

Hi,

´94 and ´95 should have the same gearbox. Holeshot550, maybe it was a late 93 model
which made the troubles.
I would recommend a bike with 6 gears, when you ride in open areas.
A 501 should be the right choice for the most activities.
The old engines also run well but you have to do more maintenance than at newer ones-
maybe it´s better to look for an ´97 or newer model. A friend of mine is a fan of all the old Husabergs which are produced between 94 and 96.
He do not ride too much but he loves to repair them. They´re so simple.
What shouldn´t mean that they´re bad bikes.

best regards
