Hey 'Berg dudes!

I'm looking for an older dirtbike to add to my stable. I found a 96 Berg FE400 for sale, low price, looks very clean considering the age. What should I be wary of?

What is parts availibity like? How much(if anything) is upgradeable with the newer Berg stuff? What were common failure items on these bikes?

It'll mostly see woods and some trail duty, and my primary reason for wanting it is because I might lose my License and then my supermoto and streetbike do me no good. I have property with woods and trails and therefore a dirtbike is perfect for that situiation.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

welcome to UHE Kurt

At that age anything and everything could be worn. Generally, the things can be pigs to start but this can be overcome. most of the things that make them a swine to start are exactly what ruin the later 01-03 models and info on them is in the doc.

there is another current thread asking the same questions as well.

make sure he can start and get it running, don't take "it just won't run today" from him.

regards

Taffy
