Welcome to the family...and a happy new year to one and all.....ok, I've got a tricked up 04 550 and love it to death
a. Oil....dello 400 will serve you well
b. Oil filters and oil are cheap engines aren't service it...
c. It's not a WR 450 and doesn't need to rev like one....use the grunt...go forth and kill them all
d. Take the time to set up your suspension as per the manual / docs then tweak it a little to suit yourself, setting sag correctly is paramount.
e. Consider a steering dampner unit...they are the gear and will allow you to plow your berg into anything and stay upright...
f. Stand up....twist the throttle and don't sit down again...there's no time...ride the bike like you're a world champion...they love it
g. Mine didn't need the jetting kit even tho I bought one
h. Clean air...clean air...clean air........get a spare air filter or two and pre oil them for a day or two before fitting them to the bike
I've come off KTM's and Husky's and the Berg's are no more or less higher maintenance than either of the others...people get lazy and wonder why things break...maintaining bikes is fun
Last but not least enjoy.....I'm glad I bought my 550....blistering grunt, turns on a dime, does fat wheelies, jumps anything you want...looks very cool
