Been watching this one for a while, and finally got the green light from she who wields the purse.

I've had an 05 fe 650 for a few months, and since it came with over 300 hrs I was prepared for the approaching major work, but this bike has 650 miles (nearly all on the street as a commuter) and is in nearly mint condition, making it almost like new.

It's seat height is a real challenge - Dropped it before even letting the clutch out the first time :( - but what a runner!!

Life is good.

She's a beauty!

It is a TALL bike. I lowered mine 30mm, and love it. I got a seat concepts seat, which was a nice change from the medium height stock seat.

You should open up that exhaust, or get a new can. Also make sure it is running the competition map, and not the stock lean map.

You know, to me while getting on the bike the seat seems scary high, but for some reason it doesn't ride high.

Once under way the height seems perfect. Yeah I can feel the shaking heads out there, but that's the way it seems to me.

Checking on the mapping now.

Thx for the input.

JÁ!! Very nice!! congratulations!

- I hear you re. the height ... it's stature is imposing at first, but then feels very right. I was offered a medium-tall OEM seat for mine - noticeably taller than stock. I went for it and love it!

Thanks. Man, what a smooth and predictable clutch, and the crisp and certain gear box is a joyful experience.

Also I've read posts about the quick throttle, but that is not the case on mine. It comes in as requested and continues in a linear response with no surprises.

For some reason I can no longer do forum searches on my tablet, so can someone point me to the threads discussing mapping and ignition timing control.

Thx

Steve

Congratulations on the new addition!

You know... those 17" rims will slot right in and make the bike lower..

You will have to dismount the rear tire and flip it around one more time though! (`_´)ゞ

Good to know. Today I emailed Warp9 about the caliper mount.

Have you dealt with with MPC in Roseville? They say they can reflash my ecm.

Thx

Steve

I've got an 09 FE 450 and live in SF. let me know if you need riding partners!

Thanks for the offer, but I'm afraid I would just hold you back. I'm an old fat guy who used to ride dirt bikes in the late 60's - pretty basic machines back then - so it wouldn't be fun for you; but, again thanks very much for offering.

I would be interested in who you use for service. I will do most of the work, but for major things it would be nice to have experts do it. I have been in contact with Roseville, Fresno, and Modesto, and for parts I have been running up to Dan in Vacaville.

Also, any idea where I can my ecu remapped?

Sorry to bother you for this info, but I am still trying to source good shops.

Thx

Steve

if I remember correctly, someone in the the 70-degree Husaberg over on ADVRider mentioned a place they had sent their ECU to for mapping ...

Husaberg 70 Degree Owners Thread! - ADVrider

it's a silly long thread (it is an inefficiency of advrider that it tends toward vast threads IMO) ... but there's some good info there! and yeah, I think I saw someone mention this not too many posts ago

here's a couple other good ones over there:
Known issues, problems, commons mods Husaberg FE390 FE450 FE570 70 degrees - ADVrider
The Husaberg 70º FE Adventure Traveler Thread - Page 3 - ADVrider

p.s. - If it has been sitting, CHANGE THE OIL!

tourist, thanks again for helping. I'm finding more and more dealers reluctant to reflash the ecu to the Euro Comp map on street legal bikes. Hopefully I can find someone.

Moore and sons in Santa Cruz will remap/unlock ECU for $50. They love Husabergs. If you have a black cap fuel pump, they can maybe also get you a warranty unit.

Thanks, I'll be checking with them.

Re Husabergs, Tom seems a little reluctant to take on the rebuild of a 2005 fe 650, so it will be interesting to see what he thinks about the 570.

Dan at Motoxotica is a good resource too up in Vacaville. ****'s appears to have moved to Utah :-(
