Howdy gents,
I'm a first time purchaser of a delightful 2004 Husaberg FE450. It runs like a champ, with only 2255 miles on it, however it has been rebuilt. Unfortunately there is absolutely no info on the internet about the parts interchange between various years and models. I was hoping you folks may be able to help me knock out some places I can pick up various parts.
Being that its rebuilt once, in my expierence means that it'll need to be again. I'm a glass half empty kinda guy.

Hi, does anybody know if it is possible to combine the left crankcase from 400 2001-2003 with right crakcase from FE450 2004-2008. Reason is damaged left crankcase as a result of main bearing failure. 400/450/470 should be the same height, bud does it mean I can do this?

what a stupid idea? and what if the cases are a little out?
this isn't the time to cut corners....

are 'we' letting you down then while everyone else offers this free service? look in the Doc. and try assking nicely....

"Little out" means that if I have one case broken, I have to buy both cases? and also that I even can not combine covers from the same model if they are not from the same piece of bike? And, please, if you are trying to reeducate someone here and asking him to be more polite ("*** king" thats funny), do not call someone elses ideas stupid if you can call them "not good" or "not knowledgeable enough". supposed I had the knowledge, I would not ask. not everybody here is mechanic or mechanical engineer. If I am bothering you, sorry for that, maybe someone esle would not be so bothered. Think about it, how can new member feel welcome here, if your first answer looks like this? Peace.

Hello there

in theory it is possible if both sets of cases were from the same casting run, set up on the same machining jigs and made with the same tooling on the same day

but that is very unlikely, and there some differences with the oil relief valve and pickup from 2001 -2003 and 2004 up

if both sides were from the same era (2004 up or from 2001-2003) then you could check if the main bearing tunnels line up within say 0.02mm and also check if the hole between the cases for the liner is round.

the machining of the cases for the liner (water jacket barrel) is the one i would expect to be wrong as it is bored with both cases bolted together.

pretty much all the other shafts can be slightly wrong and it won't matter much but the cylinder and the main bearing tunnels are pretty important.

if you know a good machine shop they could fix the case for you with a steel sleeve, something like this. these are my cases .. I don't run a counterbalancer

the sleeve should be free machining steel 1.3 to 1.4mm thick, 0.07mm interference fit in the cases and 0.05mm interference fit for the bearing.

bushmechanic, that is the helpful answer I was looking for, thanks! very clear.

Bushm, flowers from man to man, haha. But thank you, they are so beutiful! You deserve them more.

it was more of a question than a gift:

if you look up any good parts fiche for the husaberg and the 2007 ktm 525 RFS engine/ chassis you find a lot of x over parts with the same part numbers, also the KTM "ATV" 525 engine 2008

most of the interchangeable parts are in the cylinder head

Thanks Bushmechanic!
That is some really helpful info on fixing a cracked engine case!
If one is to machine the cases and put a sleeve in, I suppose it may be better to make the sleeve take a bigger stronger bearing? I'm going to re-read the "definte main bearing thread' , I believe it mentioned something about that... I have a cracked case that I wanted to experiment on.
