Hi

Hope all is well, I recently bought a 2012 Husaberg 300 TE

Hope that you can maybe give me some info and tips if you don’t mind.

We generally do a wide range of riding but want to focus more on tech

1. How do one know what model range it is EU, AUS or USA?
2. What is the best Jetting for technical riding and riding at 1200- 1800M
3. What Power valve spring do I need to use for technical riding and how do I need to adjust?
4. What sprockets is best for technical riding
5. What fork and suspension setting is best for all round and technical riding ? Comfort, Standard or Sport?
6. What size spring do I need for fork and suspension if I’m roughly 85k without kit?
7. I have a KTM power part silencer what type of FMF is it ?and do I need a Gnarly Pipe for more bottom end ?
8. Do I need to do the wet mod on the E start for the 2012 Husaberg ?
9. Any other hints or tips with the 2012 Husas ?

Thank you in advance, I really appreciate any feedback

Hello

I raced a KTM300EXC in 2013. it was a 2012 model. i wrote it here at the time so I'll just repeat it from memory but basically

the triple clapms need 2mm less offset for more trail as the front tucked too easily.

secondly, fit a Suzuki RM needle. the carburation was woeful the day I rode it and then a month later just borrowing it again for a mile whilst green laning the needle had morphed the bike.

regards

Taffy

You should ask 2 & 3 questions at a time not so many. You can ask about more later. I love your bike!
This is for taffy about the sprockets/chain you can try to help. But I tried. Plus for you is you get to make money off of the less able? But he will find out in time. G maybe I was wrong about the amount of questions. But FE350 is right. I think you should ask about reliably questions first then after you are familer with the bike then setup questions.

Hey BorrisDieBlokman,

I think the VIN number would give you the model and where it was purchased. Check online for a vin decoder you might find one.

As for all the other questions.

Suspension. Check and set static sag, Check your race sag. This will tell if you require another spring before making a blind purchase and guessing, then you will know if you need a lighter or heaver spring. The spring has markings on it and you can work from there.

A technical bike does not make a technical rider and in some cases can make it more difficult to ride. My best advise to you would be, Ride the bike and enjoy it a little, find what you don't like and then correct those issues. Set all your settings at the stock setting and work from there.

A stock Husaberg will perform excellent right out of the box, you will find small things that you will need to correct over time. Do them as required. An example, I have dropped my front suspension to allow my bike handle better in turns, I have adjusted my setting to compensate my riding style, I have adjusted my controls, bars etc to my liking and feel. These little thing made the bike much better to my ride style and ability. Yes I have added performance hard parts and thousands of dollars during the year, but only one thing at a time to correct what I didn't like.

It is very hard for someone else to tell you what you need or what is best as they are not the one riding the bike. It is only you who will know and when you need that change and maybe do not know what it is? then can ask for advise on that issue. I think this will work much better.

I saw you were asking about jetting and a header? Is the bike running lean or rich? I do think the stock bike should be ok in these elevations and some small jetting should be fine. JD jetting is excellent in this department and their website will give you the jets and altitude for your bike. Is the bike lacking bottom end? Unless we find an issue at hand it would not be wise to start playing with jetting etc.

Hope this helped a bit and sometimes finding what others do helps as well.

Hope you have a great time on your new Berg :)

Just dropped the forks it in the triple tree about 4mm up allowing the front end to come down.

just the opposite of what I recommend. brilliant.....

now the poor fella is going to be really confused. :spin::spin:

Sorry Taffy,

LOL not trying to confuse but trying to get him to ride the bike and then find his own problems. I was making a point of what ones issues are does not mean it is another's. You less offset :) Me more offset :) this shows that one can not tell someone how to set their bike up. It only takes you the rider to find the problems and then resolve lol. I can tell him to do one thing and it can be wrong for his style and skill and vise versa. He needs to ride it and then come with his problems and allow those like you who can help. At this point I see allot of asking without actually having a problem. I bet you can fly with little or no front end shake and I bet I run the tight single track faster if our skill level is identical. Now is he riding tight single track or balls to the wall on open desert. What is the riding skill of this rider? We are giving advise on our skill and feel. Yes I do agree the bikes tuck easy and the less offset will correct this, but in the tight technical stuff I love more offset as I very rarely run above 100kph. I really think BorrisDieBlokman needs to ride his nice new bike, put a few hours on it then ask for advise on everything that bothers him. I am sure his bike will be set perfectly once he does this. No disrespect is meant here what so ever as I know you are very very skilled with your advise and sure you could teach me allot. I just saw something here and don't want to see someone playing with their bike prior having issues is all. :)

well we won't throw stones over it fella but I have to point out that my view is based on riding his bike. now while it is true that suspension is subjective I can't say the same of offset. the front tucks because it has not enough trail.

usually this could still be poor tyres, poor tyre pressure, poor suspension. that clouds the issue but after that it is mechanical and objective IMHO.

to me you either raise the front end (drop the forks through) and find grip or if this fails you have to put them back where they were and swop to less offset TCs.

at the end of the day though as a novice he will need to set his supension first.

LOL, I wasn't throwing stones what so ever and as for riding his bike? I was unaware you rode his bike? As for riding the same model as what I take the comment. If we look at the front end of the 2012 TE300 and the 2014 FE350 we will find both are at 26.5 degrees other than the fact that my 2014 is 10 pounds heavier lol. in what would allow it to flop much faster, consider the bike I currently race and ride is the same I still will not tell someone to change theirs based on how I ride. So I also was basing my info on this as well, but I did not give advise telling him to change anything, I was making a point that I have changed something different that what someone else said and that I thought it was wrong to change anything until he had a problem. I will only give advise on problems. I do know that I have a bit more travel but with this said other than my 4cs system it is near the same and handles almost identical other than mine does not smoke. With the comments about tires, pressure ect. once again. unless we know how he rides, everything about his machine to detail than we can not tell how to set his bike up. when he is having an issue it is only then we can give advise based and only based on our own personal preferences. I have never seen any of the top riders set their bikes based on what other say, they are set to their needs only.

righton on FE350! unless the rider and bike are right in front of you it isn't possible to say what they need

the best anyone can do from a behind a screen on the other side of the world is offer a few suggestions based on experience and due logical process

desired offset is subjective and depends among other things on the surface, on my 700 trail is easily adjustable I run 160mm of trail in the soft summer sand and 140 in the winter (same sand with more water tipped on it)
