Hi everyone!

Yesterday I found a 98 FC 501 and took the plunge. It doesn't run (No Spark and Stator Reading no resistance between black and red), but I know I'll get it going soon. If it doesn't cost me too much to fix, I would like to make it a supermoto for trackdays to give my aprilia RSV a break (smaller Tracks).

I have already used the site to diagnose the bike, and enjoy the wealth of knowledge here!

KTM Stator 33* btdc, Carb clean, brake fluid flush, Oil Change, fresh gas and bam it fired to life !!!

I just want to get the carb settings just right. The owners manual is pretty vague. Any suggestions?

wow, that sure is a clean old school 'berg. Did the prior owner even start it?

Well Tom that is really a very nice and clean old school Husaberg.
I think that your Aprilia is going to have a very long vacation:D
Enjoy this very beautiful FC and keep us posted.

I have it starting easily, sometimes on the first kick.

It has the normal choke in the round side carb, but has a air bypass that can be used when the bike is flooded. Am I right? Here is a picture.

Nothing in the owners manual at all about this. It goes from the air box to the valve in the picture and then to the intake manifold between the carb and head.

I sealed the exhaust header last night as it was leaking pretty bad at the muffler joint. I figured get it tight and then tweak the carb some more. It's running kind of rich but I'm not too far off.

Well it's a nice painjob but what about the decals? Are the in one piece? Because decals are very hard to get especialy for the older Bergs.
I am still looking for decals for a 1989 model for over 3 months now and so far nothing.
The guy that promised me to make them is a noshow so i have to make the templates again.
Though i wil find or make the decals myself.

Keep us posted :D

Wow, this bike is in such a good condition that it would be a shame to modify it at all....

Hi Bigninjazx12,
Thanks for the web adress i will contact them asap if they can help me out with the stickerset.
I agree with Makazica to not modify youre bike at all.
As with my 1990 FE 501, this bike is also in a very original state, that even the stickers on the Nordisk rims and the 4 stroke stickers on the swing arm are original.
The Ohlins shock , for example, wich i brought to van Laar suspension, where surprised that the shock was in such a good state, the bump stop was dried out,and the spring missed a little paintchip and of course oil and nitro in the piggybag where changed, even the shock has the original Ohlins sticker:)
When i am ready with the bike i will try to post some ''then and now ''photo's and some detail photo's.

As for Makazica's opinion i fully agree.
My 1990 FE 501 has the original stickers on the Nordisk rims and also the swingarm has the original 4 stroke stickers on it.
For an example the Ohlins shock , wich i brought to a local suspesion guru was surprised in what state the shock was.
Two things where wrong the bumpstop was dried and the spring missed a little paintchip, ofcourse oil and nitro in the piggybag where changed.
When i am ready with the bike i will try post some " then and now " photo's, including a few detail photo's.

Hi Mate

Good luck for your bike .

I have exaclty the same model.

I had stator problems so i sent it to rewind.. AU$ 250.00 , I ve changed the spark, filters, oil, etc... I went for a ride, after 30 mn i get stocked in the sand dune with a broken motor.

The exhaust valve is broken and damaged a little bit the top of the piston and the valve seat.

I'm looking deseperatelly for spare pieces mainly exhaust valve and exhaust valve seat..

If you know where to find any parts, i would take the contacts!
