I think I can justify the 390 if I bring it north next year. It's the perfect upgrade for my 2 stroker and will let me get way out there with it's fuel economy.
However. The 2 stroke digests what ever crap you put in it and I normaly salvage the bottom of aircraft gasoline barrels. Town gas is poor quality stuff. How would or would the new models even run on low lead gasoline or poor quality gas from the pump?

Hi Trapper

I sometimes have had to run poorer quality gas through my bikes, both pre 09 and 09. Heat generation has been the worst result, of course, depending on teh type of riding I was doing. As long as you are defining poor quality, as the fuel having low octane, then you can manage, if it has other '*****' in it, then not sure how injector longevity will be. I run fuel from a bulk tank, and mix it 50/50 with 111 VP to make it stable again. I have thought about trying low lead, but have not done it yet. Try it in your 650, by mixing it, and see what happens. If it works with the 650, it should work with teh 390.

if its not clean you will need extra filtration

That's more my concern, too.
Crud and crap will typically make it through a fuel pump ... it's plugging the injector that worries me. 8O

I thought I saw an thread, advertisement or article a while back about a "filter sock" that you can install over the fuel pump - but can't remember where I saw it. Rats.
