Hi all,

just uploaded some pics of my Suzaberg (Suzuki frame, Husaberg engine) project, so thought I should present myself a bit.
I've been on the forum for many years but not registered until now, so here goes:

Born and raised in Sweden but live in the UK since 5 years.

Started motocrossing on a XR75 6 years old and raced 80-125cc until I did my national service.
In 1988 (I think) my dad came home and said that he and his mates had gone together and should buy stock in this new company called Husaberg to help funding/starting it and did i want to invest my savings in it? Only 12 years old at the time I invested all I got.
It went bust some year later but was reformed with new money, luckily they won the world title in their first year so investors were not too shy with money on the second start. My money was forever lost however.

Sometime in the early nineties I did a support race for the Swedish 4-stroke champs on the 125cc. Hearing a mx start with 30 big 4-strokes planted a seed in me, it was a awesome sound! Mainly Husqvarnas and Husabergs etc back then, heavy things.
In -96, after my national service, I gave up racing and traded the 125 for a -95 FC600. Since, I've just been having fun on my 4-strokes. And always owned at least one Husaberg.

An example with me and my mate:

Wow, great story!

Are you saying your dad and his pals are responsible for all our great husaberg bikes?

Welcome to UHE.

Phil.

:)
Without the initial fundings we helped with it wouldn't exist no, but our share was so small so I wouldn't be able to take any credit for it whatsoever. But it's nice to have been part of it!

And the 600 engine? I love it! The last proper engine before it got a bit wrong with balancer shafts, big bore and stuff.....But that's my opinion

Hi Suzaberg

I love how the RM dirtbike chassis works I guess it must be OK in sumo too or you'd not have used one.

counterbalancers: dale lineaweaver refered to it as a clattering peice of junk, mines in the bin.

very nicely built bike, I like it

Looks great, quality shed time no doubt!

OTTOMH Dale Lineaweaver was involved in a BBR alloy framed 501 that also had a RHS kick start conversion and, rumour had it, Honda funding. It was supposedly part of the CRF450 development program. I also seem to recall that they couldn't finish a race because of vibration, the harmonics of the non counterbalanced Berg and the alloy frame causing grief.

Any vibe issues with the Suzaberg?

Cheers
Steve

great video!

what a shame the best music was at the start and then went down hill to country and western or something!

meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

regards

Taffy

No, only good vibe's from the Suzaberg so far!!! :D
It's only been fired up yet so got all problems like that to yet to come. But I will probably avoid motocrossing it as that stresses the frame/engine a lot harder (heavy landings etc)
I've had crank cases cracking by the swingarm bolt in the past and this frame might stress that area even more...
The Suzuki engine also has more mounting places which will make it a stressed member of the frame so I've made the frame a lot less stiffer by removing those.
The plan is to use it on the road mainly on a daylight only reg.

Will upload more build pics if you are interested.

Glad you liked the vid and some of the music...Youtube has reduced the quality for some reason so need to upload the vid again.
