yehaa '09 Berg 600cc kit

Good news everyone !!!!

just heard from a very reliable source (same one that knew about the 70 degree engine etc) that there is very likely going to be an offical 600cc kit for the 570 8O 8O

no 690 motor, definitely a big bore kit for the 570 and max is to 600cc, news from person who was at the factory last week on formal business

extra 30 cc

that won't do much ... when you say it's a 570 , what's the real capacity ? ie 566

yes you are right its actually 565cc so that makes it an extra 35cc, will be a bit like adding a 540 kit to the 525 I guess, more grunt all round generally and a few extra hp up top.

gazza, the word from the factory was that the 570 was a powerfull engine in standard trim and you would not require any more cc"s, but im still pursuing the 600 kit which may be available if approved by Husaberg, it wont be available until well after the model is released via the force parts, but they may not even develop it at all ???. im in contact with the head engineer to find what i need to produce our own and have it ready to try on our demo as soon as we get it next year.
ORANGEBERG

Hi OrangeBerg,

When will you be receiving the new bikes here in Australia?
Around what month next year?

Not sure on the market for a $9k to $10k beginner 250's or if bore and stroking the thing to a 650+ won't introduce problems such as overloaded mains etc. Doubtful if either scenario will ever be in the cards for KTM. IMHO, the aftermarket guys will have an opportunity here building 350's and 650's.

After reading through all the posts, thanks to all who have provided pictures and documentation on the 09.

I have read a few posts speculating that this is some sort of Knock off of the KTM motor. I offer you this; It is my understanding that this motor has been around since 2003. I got this info from two different sources; One from a Husaberg insider who I cannot reveal. The second from the 2003 model brochure. The fact of the matter is that KTM once again is using the brains and engineering of Husaberg. Another example of this is the swing arm, it came first on the 2001 Husaberg line. In fact the swing arms are produced by Renthal in England. If any of you remember there was a delay in the release of the 01's due to a big fire at the Renthal plant which delayed production. KTM continued to use it's regular swing arms until just the past couple of years when they too went to the one piece cast swing arm. Alas, I digress.

So here's my two cents worth after reading all the posts and the official documentation on the new bike.

Lower compression ratio, from 13:1 to 11.9:1.
Lower amp hour battery, from 7ah to 6 ah. Don't need as much b/c of the lower compression ratio???
KTM style counter shaft sprocket. Gone is the circlip style retention=bummer.
Two radiators instead of one single.
Retention of rocker arm's to actuate the valves. Hurray, Hurray!! No freaking shim and bucket set up where you have to pull the cam to adjust the valves!!!
10mm-20mm shorter wheel base, depending on sprockets.
The addition of a scavenging oil pump, and retention of single oil filter.
10mm increase in ground clearance with same seat height.
Plastic sub frame. I wonder how this will work out in the long run?
Increase in claimed weight of 2KG's.
Retention of 26.5 degree steering rake.
Increase of 5mm front suspension travel, and 15mm in the rear.
Lower PDS mount of shock now on top of swingarm instead of in the middle. Looks like much easier adjustment of rebound damping screw, and easier to take off shock and put back on.
With the down tubes in front being swept back, this greatly increases approach angle over obstacles.
EFI, what we were all hoping for no? I wonder if this will make it easier to get a street legal version? No more jetting as it is supposed to compensate for heat, altitude, and a cold start circuit. Great, I just spent this whole last summer figuring out how to jet the FCR carb! LOL!! As a side benefit, it is assumed the mpg will increase as well as lowering emission's with a EMS and EFI.
Looks like we're back to positive valve train lubrication a la 2001. I suppose that's necessary considering the angle of the valve train.
I also believer that somewhere in this thread perhaps in one of the links, the oil capacity has been increased as well.
Anybody notice that little vacuum hose barb right next to the intake on the head? I wonder what that is for??? On the pre 2000's it was for a fuel pump that lifted fuel from the large low side of the tank to the small high side of the tank. Or could it be in connection with the EMS?

I believe it was Faktor that mentioned having the rad hose so close to the header would not be good. I agree that it is close, and not that this makes it any better, but, if you look at a CRF, or a KXF, their rad hose is very close as well. Summit racing sells heat shielding for hoses and wiring looms that would be easily slipped over the hose. Who knows, there maybe heat shielding on it when the production bikes come out next year. I am currently using this heat shielding on my fuel lines on my 04.

Overall the bike looks awesome!! I think that there might just be one of these in my future!!!

Whether one refers to KTM RFS or Husaberg similarities, I guess it is necessary to remember that the KTM RFS technology came from the original Husaberg engine design. KTM did do a lot a refinement and some new thinking though. The KTM RFS oiling system is unique.

Hi newbie here.

I wonder if only difference between the 2009 Husabeg/KTM will be the plastics?

Or...they were using the KTM plastics to cover up the 'Berg during this photo shoot.

Hi,

This bike was the first prototype ever, I wonder where this photo could be from?!
They use the orange one, cause the original wasn't ready, and it was easier to do in orange for quickly! Don't worry, Husaberg will stay in first place with all new features in KTM house! :)

Excellent, just Excellent!!!! It was cool to be able to see the chassis and the fuel tank/air box set up.

Thank you. Just could not understand what was said about the PDS geometry. Looks like it may NOT be ktm like.
