I think it's a chop job... but a good one...

You can see where the rear fender is missing a small section from shortening the silencer.

DAmn Ken would you stop already. :D

The seat looks to be completely integrated into the tank, someone had to chop the headlight as well. all very possible for photoshop. but i digress, unless somebody comes up with the original high resolution image, we may never know... until in 2010 that bike shows up on KTM showrooms....

I found this on Supermoto Racer Magazine:

2008 KTM 450SMR

Sick looking motorcycle - bad news - it won't be available at US dealers as of right now.

This bike comes with a slipper clutch, 16.5 front wheel, radial mounted Magura Brakes, 5-speed transmission and much much more.

--Sure hope the full supermoto version with slipper clutch will be available on the 2009 berg!--

If you have read it again you probably have discovered that the translation was about the new Benelli BX bikes :D

I have seen that KTM pic somewhere in higher res but can't find it now. It doesn't look like an obvious chop, but I'm not an expert.

I did however, happen to find a larger 09 pic.
I'm guessing you found it at the same place I did? Karlstrommotor.se...
Here is a hi-res pic of the engine. Enjoy.

Why would you have your radiator hose so close to your exhaust/Headers. Does not seem like a good idea to me?

Seems closer to the headers than the old engine.

Big bores, dead batteries (, EFI) and no kickstarter are a no no :bad-words:

I saw several 4S with dead batteries that if it wasn't the KS, they was stuck.

A off-road bike is subject to vibrations and shocks that no street bike have to endure , as a result, sometimes (in special if you use a cheap battery) an internal connection of the battery can fail.

Hi guys!

I`m back from EICMA. Have cca 50 hi-res pictures of new 09. Some pictures will give answer on many of different questions regarding new bike.
Also I have other interesting infos about H-berg in near future.
First picture resizing and then uploading. Will start in few hours - first I have to work (everyday job, you know).
Also, many supermoto and other bike related pictures. Should I upload them somewhere ...
Yes, bike babes too ...

Cheers, Goran

I haven't seen it myself but was told that the SXS KTM has another kind of battery, a Li-Io (?), the same kind that are used in cell phones. I guess the advantages with this kind is they are smaller and lighter and are not as sensitive to the abuse we will put them through.

EDIT (I've been making enough posts the last few days):
Take a look in my gallery for 15 new picfrom the Italian bike mag Motociclismo.

Here's an example

Hehe - That is brilliant. What a masterpiece in making us think it is revolutionary yet it isn't really

Just to imagine. First do a massive overhaul of current engine - it's rather needed.

Then take engine sat in normal position with cylinder sticking up, then spin it around so cylinder is facing "backwards", then rotate the engine 90 degrees. Hey presto you have a 70 degree cylinder and then you reverse rotation/camshaft and you have the new engine.

Actually, it is pretty clever and gives extra space for things like a larger intake box and becomes "down draft". Lets hope it is a success. I like it.

Cheers,
Simon
