It doesn't have to be that way. Montessa/Honda/Keihn uses what looks to be basically the same EFI system, and it works off kick start exclusively, with a highly efficient stator.

I'm very familiar the HRC Keihn FI system. It basically shuts down any and all unnecessary power draws just to get the bike to fire. It would never work with a larger displacement motor. It was originally designed to address the world wide smog issues with small scooters. You would have to kick it over very fast...

The more i look at the bike, it`s just becoming Moore beautiful.
I think it going to have some groundbreaking handling :D they say its feels like a 2-stroke bike, that it not want to drift out (rise) when you put some gas out of corners.
It`s very mean off Husaberg to let us SM guys wait to see the SM bike :x
It would be cool if they had the Ktm twin-cam head on that bike. But i don't think so.

"'m very familiar the HRC Keihn FI system. " ...but it require a very high idle speed to operate correctly. Where as on the Sherco, which uses a battery as the primary source of power, can run idle speeds around 800rpm compared to about >1400 rpm.

I think its time to say goodbye to the kickstarter (remember) its 2009 years model, Think about how many streetbike that have EFI that have kickstarters?? mine 04 start super easy every time, and that without EFI. The only time I have used the kick it have been just for fun.

I don't know how many other Luddites are out there besides myself, but I want a kick start for backup. I have seen many electric starts fail out on the trail (mine included), and most of them have been euro bikes. It is not any fun being 50 miles from pavement, alone, and not having a kickstart when the push button fails. Street bikes are not usually faced with that problem, and it probably would be really tough kicking over 1000cc engine.lol

This photo shows a kickstart lever. I don't know the origin of the photo though...

I don't know what ya'll are getting worked up about, KTM has had this motor for a while now. Jeeez

hell, if husaberg keeps copying KTM They will be noting better than those dang chinese knock offs...

Hmmm... different water pump, slightly different exhaust header. Looks convincingly real to me.

That photo above must surely be a photochop? either that or KTM and Berg are going to be a united front and release practically the same model each year, just choose your colours..

I have had to tow start a mates 07 450SXF, which is not EFI of course, it was not a big deal, but you wouldnt want to have push started it!

Azza.

I have no idea if it is or is not, to it looks pretty legit to me, so good chop work if it is. I think though i remember seeing this image somewhere else. It would not be all that suprising of this motor has been in the works for some time and tested in various forms in the KTM trim? and a sneak photo left the stable...

did i miss something? is this new revolutionary engine supposed to be the first of it's kind and never before seen on a bike? (at least in public)

so is it a chop or not? Kelsow? you been foolin around? look closley and the heads are slightly different, meaning there are markings on the berg that are not on the KTM, don't know what that means but .. wish we hada full rez image.

It looks like a photoshop chop job to me. The best way to tell is to paste it into an image viewer and zoom in. Check for fuzzy areas around the edges. The next way is to note how the KTM's exhaust pipe is routed into the gas tank. To preheat the fuel mixture I would presume!

good point about the header...

i diod zoom in but the picture is so low rez it was to difficult to tell.

How is it a rebadged KTM?

Now that KTM is in control of Husaberg, there are many similarities. Just looking at the plastic cam cover is a dead giveaway. This is not a Husaberg engine like it would have been prior to KTM's ownership. That is good and that is bad. For me, owning a Husaberg is now like owning a Beta.

The heart and sould of any dirt bike is the engine. I like owning bikes that aren't seen on the trail at every corner. That is one of the things that drew me to Husaberg early on. I know they are still awesome bikes, and better in many ways, but the uniqueness factor has worn somewat; at least in my eyes.

You do know that KTM bought Husaberg waaaay back in 1996!?
It is actually the other way around... All KTMs (prior to the DOHC and LC4 excluded) are in fact Husa rip off's.
The fact that KTM is sold in almost infinite larger numbers are we choosing not to see

I understand that and though I appear agitated, I am a big fan of husaberg. I rode a 1989 model back in college and wanted one for a long time. For whatever reason, 2002 was the year. I really liked that bike if for no other reason than it wasn't as ridiculously tall as all the newer bikes are. If the 2009 model debuts like an auto maker would do it, meaning spring summer of 2008, I may buy one. I really want an EFI 450 that won't overheat that sits lower to the ground than the 2007 Husky's. If Husky hasn't addressed the overheating issues the TE450 has, I may go back to Husaberg. The TE450 has the same size rads as the TE250 and they are significantly smaller than any other 450. For my riding style that means overheating issues. Many threads at Thumpertalk about this too.

If the 'berg is low to the ground and available next spring/summer, I may be back here for good.

I have seen that KTM pic somewhere in higher res but can't find it now. It doesn't look like an obvious chop, but I'm not an expert.

I did however, happen to find a larger 09 pic.

It definitely is a chop, here is a picture of the real KTM, the little "window" below is a section cut from the suspected chopped KTM. it is a perfect match. I even transposed the two images. the Supposedly radically new KTM, has the Husaberg motor chopped in from just above and in front of the kickstart lever. including part of the clutch cover. they must have chopped in the existing KTM water pump as well.... That and the header pipes all all wrong if you look at the entire thing from head to can...

The new Husaberg is dead sexy! Love the blue rims, wonder if they will make it into the production models. Also, no frame guards stock? Great bike though!

Man if that bike runs as good as it looks Husaberg will have a winner. With the new Lower Center of Gravity and fuel injection this bike should be a dream to ride. The most stable and best handling four stroke bike I have ever ridden is my brothers 02 VOR 530 MX, [they didn't win the ISDE two years in a row by luck] I see allot of similarities, frame design, under the seat fuel tank. The 09 will be even better than the VOR with the lower mass of the motor. Husaberg did a great job designing this bike.

Well I see a different seat, rear plastic, silencer, and no kick stand... just to name a few.
