Hi, this is my first post here, so good to be on the site.

Here is my problem:

I bought this used 2011 FS-570. It has a slip-on pipe and has been re-mapped by Two Brothers Racing.
All 4 times I have rode the bike around town it has died and shut off at some point, Seems to be no rhyme or reason as to the time it takes to die (during my ride) sometimes 10mins into the ride sometimes 50. I could be going along and it just "bogs" down and dies. After I wait 15-30mins it will fire back up and off I go. At first I thought it was over heating and some safety relay shuts it down. So maybe the water pump? Maybe a fuel pump problem? But each time I let it cool down it starts back up so don't know about an electrical problem.
All fluids have been changed and checked,
Anyone else have or hear of a problem like this?

Any help would be great.

Thank you.

Nice bike, bummer about the problem... It sounds a lot like a fuel pump issue. The part about it starting after a cool down makes me think that.
Best of luck to you!

Sounds like fuel pump to me as well.

Nice bike. What'd that run you and how many miles/hrs does it have?

Could be fuel pump, or they could have installed the small inline filter (inside fuel hose connected to the injector). If they installed the bad version it restricts the fuel when it gets warm. That could explain why it slowly dies when it gets warmed and then starts after some cool down. I had the same problem with my FE570 -12, and I know that before they realized the issue they retro-fitted it into some -11s.

Check the very last fuel connection before the injector. If you find a filter, throw it away. Then you can install a newer version (grey, not black) or buy a 10 microns can-am filter (I did that, works great).

If its not that I bet you will get help on this forum until it runs as it should.

Best of luck! Its a great bike so don't worry!

Yep, sounds exactly like what happens with a clogged fuel filter, it will start to do what you have mentioned then eventually it will not run at all. If it totally quits while riding it, you can remove the filter to get the bike running so your not stranded, but install a new filter ASAP.

I had the same problem 2 months ago with my fs570.
Been riding the bike over 1.5 years without any isues before that.
Dealer fixed it for me he had to clean out fuel pomp get a new spark plug wire/clean injector/clean out tank.
After reading this thread and my tank laying around in the shed anyways for the moment I decided to take a look...
I noticed there was a fuel filter in it and on my 2010 this would not be stock...
My dealer did not tell me that he installed this filter so not sure where it comes from

That filter is stock on newer bikes.

The filter that many -11/-12 owners have problem with is a tiny 10 microns installed in the hose just before the injector.

What your dealer did is good to do anyway. Husaberg actually recommends to change the injector every 20h (who will do that....?). KTM/Husaberg do have a lot of problems with dirty injectors as they have small holes. Its a good thing to clean them out now and then AND use clean fuel (preferably without any ethanol in it as that binds water and the resulting mush will sooner or later clog the injector).

I have two injectors so I keep one ready as a spare. I change the spark plug and hat, clean my 10 micron can-am and the injector every 45 hours. Right now I'm doing a 90 hour so I'm also cleaning the tank, fuel system and changing the sock and that filter you show on your picture.
If I loose hp I usually blow through the injector from the nozzle with air and change the spark plug during a 15 hour standard service. That helps making the front wheel light again
If you want to keep all your hp a clean fuel system is of high importance on these engines.

I also orderd a new spark plug but replacing your spark plug every service?
Danm those things aren't cheap I believe 23€ for a plug my bike has 160 hours and it is only the 2nd replacement spark plug I'm buying

Junk all the fuel filter nonsense by Husaberg and go to the local Can-Am/Rotax dealer and buy one of their inline fuel filters for the Spyder. The Spyder is fuel injected, so the fuel filter is the proper mesh size, the filter is all metal, it costs below $15, and it goes in line easily by just replacing the quick disconnect and installing the Can Am filter. I wrapped my new in line filter in a piece of radiator hose with safety wire to protect it and keep it from heating up on the cylinder.

I first heard about this trick when I was reading one of the Aussie off road racing teams blog. They claimed numerous fuel delivery/injector problems in their first year racing, then they started using this set up and claimed 50,000 Km's without a problem. I installed mine when I bought my 2011 FE570S, and I've had zero fuel problems since new and am now at over 150 hours of time on the engine. I'm still on the factory fuel pump too, which seems to be kind of abnormal. I'm packing an extra injector and CA Cycle Works pump on my long rides just to be safe, but so far, no issues.

I just bought another Spyder in line fuel filter yesterday and am gonna change the filter out for the season.

For some reason I can't see any point in the extra can-am filter, if you refuel only clean fuel from gas station and the bike is not covered in 1 inch thick mud around the fuel cap.

I'm closing to 100h mark on stock pump and injector. Cleaned the tank fully and changed the OEM mahle in-tank filter at 50h mark. Tank had some major white crap floating inside it when I drained the fuel into clear bottles. Probably mold residue or something similar from the tank as it can't be from outside source. Well the Mahle filter was black as night. Good idea to replace it between 50-70h of use.

Had my injector also cleaned and flow tested. Results were same before and after cleaning. So I think the stock filtration system is enough if you use common sense when filling up. Might add tank filler sock filter to prevent crap entering in when refueling. Any extra filters would be pointless after that.

Just my .02 cents.

To the op: It definitely sounds fuel related problem, but check also your battery terminals for good connection! I had weird shut downs few times and the bike would suddenly cut while riding normally. Had a loud bang coming from under the seat every time it did that. Had loose terminal connection and after tightening them, the problem never returned.

Yes, I can recommend the can-am filter too. I put some vulc-tape on it to make the contact surface softer.
I didnt skip the quick disconnect, I just put it downstream of it. I made all 3 lenghts shorter so the quick disconnect is moved a bit in over the engine. Its a little bit more fiddly to operate but I can still reach it.

Even with the filter I can still feel a little boost in performance when I blow the injector clean. It might be due to the ****** fuel they sell in sweden..

brian011952, if you have a friend with a sonic cleaner you can clean the can-am mesh. Then again, its not too expensive...
Also they changed out the fuel pumps to better ones on 11 and 12, so its not strange if you havent had any problems. Its the -09 and -10 that struggle.

edit: maKe. That white stuff you found in the tank is probably ethanol that reacted to water. You have a lot of ethanol in the fuel in Finland, its even worse than sweden. My new 2012 570 got serious problems when I run it on Finnish 95. The ethanol clogged the inline filter. After that I only run it on ethanol free 98.
That white mush can create problems in the injector.
For me its even worse as I cover my bike in mud ( literally cover it in mud) + drown it in muddy water quite often. So for me filters and service are very important.

I already ordered tanksock from bergos last week I think I will order can am filter to better safe than sorry it will cost me lots more If I have to bring it back to the dealer again for them to sort things out

Then Shell V-power is falsely advertised!!

When I looked up specs of fuels they sell here every other 98oct fuel has 5% of ethanol added. Shell 99oct V-power is less than 1%. I've only ran that fuel 95% of the time.

You have a valid point I have to admit.
My bike rarely sees mud as 17" wheels limit my adventuring with the bike.
In extreme dirt conditions it might serve a purpose to have extra filter that is easily accessible.

V-power is known in sweden and finland to be paska. It used to be good but today they add ethanol in it. In Finland I think its at least 5%, thats what the guy at the counter told me when I was over there. In sweden people warn each other about v-power, its all about OKQ8 98 (even though one competition guy told me shell 95...) The rest is all ethanol.

No need to explain my needs for filters...

UPDATE!!

So, I took the bike to a mechanic friend. He said he duplicated the problem ran his tests and said it was the fuel pump. When it gets hot it just shuts off until it cools down. A new pump for a FS-570 is $525.29 (U.S.)

That is crap that a 2011 (never been on a track) bike would have a bad fuel pump that costs so much so soon.
Anybody know if there is a cheaper way to go or place to buy it?

Any ideas or help would be great.

Thanks
FT

I think they are called California Cycle Works fuel pumps that a lot of guys have switched over to. Cyclebuy in Coburg Or. carries them, and I believe they are a lot less expensive than what you have been quoted.
