Hello people, this is my first post on UHE
Can anyone help diagnose my noisy engine? its an 04 450 thats done 140 hours.

This is my first Husaberg and ive owned it for less than a week :?
Its started making a ticking noise yesterday coming from the top end
Check this vid out, you can just about hear the ticking but its a little louder in real life

The valve clearance was checked 3 days ago by the guy who sold me it, he's owned it since new and he said they get checked regularly but never need adjusting (i know him and trust him)

Ive checked the camchain tensioner and it only half adjusted, and tonight i took the rocker cover off and checked the rollers, everything appeared to be completely normal?

The only thing ive seen that looks odd is the decomp cable is tight, even when fully adjusted (as slack as it will go) there is still some tension on the lever
I suspect this is my problem but cant be sure?

Forgot to mention, its started smoking for a few seconds after starting, doesnt last long tho, is this normal?

Also its poping and banging when downshifting, sounds great but im not sure its healthy
Im sure none of this happened when i first got her.

Basically im just paranoid about everthing

welcome to UHE philis

welkl i think that someone needs to check the tappets again - especially for a loose tappet nut. someone has got the tappets slightly wrong.

if you look in the owners handbook you'll see that the decomp arm (the bit you can see!) is meant to sit looking 'vertical'.

suggest you look in the book for that.

i can't think this is anything serious though.....

how about putting your location in your signature mate?

Well Taffy you were right

Adjusted the valves this afternoon with the help of my old man and they are much quieter now.

Although she's still popping like a good un on downshifts, is this normal?

Also I've developed a "tinking" sound coming from the carb i think, sounds like the slider is rattling, mostly on tick over.

I think i need to stop listening too hard and just get riding.

Thanks again....I love this forum!

aah! you're suffering from euwp northiness, this is a particularly difficult malfunction which can nly be cured with a black pudding and a mug o yorkshire tea! wit cap ont 'ed!

the misfire is not only ok it is positively great, keeps the phucking raven's on their toes.

you can cure the tinking by getting an open tailpipe or changing to a racing cam (it's the back pressure/reasonance) otherwise it's nowt.

If the poppong exhaust is really bothering you you can try resealing it at all the joints with hi-temp silicone. I have had a couple of bikes that had excessive popping on deceleration that resealing helped, although a little is normal. Good luck.
