Hiya

Brand new 2008 FE450e bought today! :) I've removed all the restrictive stuff, and added a sump guard, an akrapovic slipon and a few small goodies. :)

I've gone through a few bikes since I started a little over a year ago, KDX220 -01 (a bit underpowered for my 200 lbs), a nice 450 EXC -03 (though in bad nick after a few owners that never should've been allowed near a wrench..) - which was traded in for a brand new 2-st 2008 300 EXC-E back in February this year.
I sincerely love that bike, but couldn't help missing some of that instant bottom end grunt the old 450 had, sure, the 300 is mellow for a 2-st, but I found myself very often either going sideways with a spinning rear wheel, or having to fettle the clutch to get it on boil.

...and the opportunity came up to get a brand new 2008 Husaberg FE450e - and I've always loved the spartan look of the 'bergs, no nonsense, just whats needed.
And for something odd...I've actually missed the maintenance on the old ktm, I actually enjoyed the odd valve adjustment - the 300 is mostly about cleaning and swapping airfilters. :D

Just had it fired up for first time, and man does it sound nice with the akra! :D

I'll run it in with the delivered jetting, then have a look here for suggestions, I assume the recommended setting, and the jets supplied with the carb might be a tad on the rich side. :)

Welcome to the site,

Very nice intro I might add. And you get big points for not just dropping in and wanting something :).

There is no shortage here on jetting advice that you will find in the fuel section of the Tech forum. I am not sure what the jetting spec is on your bike, but, the bikes delivered here are usually lean on the bottom and overly on the top.

The 08 bikes delivered to the states this year had a needle that was bit richer than in years past so the 08's are not quite as lean on the bottom.

Again, welcome.

RE: Re: New guy from Sweden

Thanks for the kind words, and the pointers on the jetting Dale! :)

I am still buzzing from yesterdays outing at an enduro track I've never really liked (very twisty and tight track with a bit of loose sand) - the only track open that wasn't fubar'd from the 2 months (give or take a day or 2) of heavy raning we've had (it's my fault, it went pearshaped when I picked up the Aprilia RSV...).

The 'berg is an *awesome* enduro weapon, almost as nimble as my 2-st KTM, but alot more stable, and with an engine to die for!
I thought the delivered gearing of 14/48 could be a problem, as I used to runt 13/50(52 at times) for the tighter stuff on the old KTM - but no...it worked perfectly!

I rode alot quicker, but smoother in the same time, the feeling of "flow" and being in synch with the bike, and what its doing just clicked - it took a few laps to get into the saddle properly, but after that it was all smiles.

...and I haven't touched the suspension yet. :D

I *love* this bike.

P.S. Jetting seems ok, it ran smooth, strong and flawlessly, no pops or bangs.

And it is nice and clean. :) I want one too.
What tyres did it come with?
Wasn't the stock silencer an Acrapovic? I thought it would be...
Entering the state of flow yes, but you did not start to sing in the helmet, did you? Still a potential of improvement left, that's good.
Regards

yes the Fe450e is a great enduro bike. Very light, fast and it floats thru the trees. I won first place in my class at a local woods "family" enduro on my 06 Fe450e

Nah, the bergs come with the ktm style silencers - the akra is just a very nice addition to an already nice bike! :)

Something I really like about it is the no-fuss look, 3 screws to have a naked rear frame, 3 screws to have the seat and fuel tank off...
Simple is good when it comes to cleaning and maintenance of an enduro bike around here...we're talking about a good half hour with the hose to just get the worst mud off of the bike. :D
