Well, I'm finally the proud owner for a 2011 Husaberg FE390. I picked it up today. It has 54.5 hours/1021 miles. I was only able to take it for a rip around my neighborhood (still snow covered here). Needless to say, I couldn't be more excited.

1.) Couple of things...I've read here the reccomendded oil is Shell Rotella 15w40 as opposed to manuals recommendation of 10w50. Any issues there?

2.) What octane fuel do people prefer to run?

3.) Does anyone have the part number for the front brake switch wiring? Currently my bikes tailight only comes on with the rear brake.

4.) What options are there for a header pipe guard? I really can't beleive the price of the P3 carbon pieces. What else do I have for options?

5.) Are there plastic frame guards to protect against the boot rubbing?

6.) Lastly, I may want to take this bike on occasion to work. I have a short 2 mile back road drive. I surprised to find out that I didn't have a steering lock or a key of any sort. What have others done to protect their bike against theft?

7.) Is the weep hole mod necessary?

I think that's it for now.

My '10 berg has a head stem ( steering) lock on it but a dealer i used a long time ago "misplaced" the keys for it. Since then i use disk locks when not at home. These locks really are only a mild deterrent to "real thieves" but are good enough to put off the "opportunist thieves". I never use my bike for daily duties and i keep it locked away nice and tight at home! Maybe there is somewhere safe at your workplace you can store it?

I have been told i can order a new key for it but don't really see much more advantage over the disk locks. If they go to the length of removing the wheels or cutting the locks off, i'm pretty sure they will overcome the head stem lock! Plus they can always just pick it up if there are a couple of scumbags working together!

Maybe you can wire in a "kill switch" and have it hidden somewhere strange on the bike aswell.

Very Cool! Congrats!

Yes. Starting from cold, the 15Winters will make the motor turn over more slowly. I run 15W-50 Motul

2.) What octane fuel do people prefer to run? What the manual dictates. Nothing higher or it won't start well and it will run hotter. Less Octane if you are riding at high altitude.

3.) Does anyone have the part number for the front brake switch wiring? Currently my bikes tailight only comes on with the rear brake.

go to KTM parts . Com and you should be able to find the part number, or call Gunnison Motorsports they will get it for you.

Check with Gunnison MS for the Akrapovic guard.

5.) Are there plastic frame guards to protect against the boot rubbing?

Yes, call Gunnison MS

6.) Lastly, I may want to take this bike on occasion to work. I have a short 2 mile back road drive. I surprised to find out that I didn't have a steering lock or a key of any sort. What have others done to protect their bike against theft?

Kryptonite lock through the rear sprocket

7.) Is the weep hole mod necessary?

Yes! Easy to do and no seal dramas

I think that's it for now.
