bringing home new Berg today,is there a list of things to do to it before I ride?any exhaust mods or issues I need to know of?

1) Read the owners manual.
2) If your in North America, put a spark arrestor on it.
3) I wouldnt even bother riding it without the proper springs and sag settings. At 260 lbs. in gear I was VERY disapponted in the handling and suspension of the bike out of the crate. Slap in the right springs and set the sag. Start your clicker settings per the owners manual and life will be good.

Yes, like he said!

If you are in the spring range however, set the clickers to standard and sag to standard and go ride it. Give the suspension at least 10 hours to fully break in.

I did put the akro slip on, on my bike along with some other goodies so I don't know how the stock muffler works. However, you have bought THE most technologically advanced dirt bike on the planet. It will run just great. Go and put the break in hours on it and enjoy!!

got it home, would like to put some lights on it,tail and a good headlight. What can you suggest? thanks for the replies

Where do you live and what kind of riding do you do?

A few of us are running the factory tail light and the X2 Trailtech light.

I really like the X2 in HID. BOSS stocks them. I recommend using the Trailtech switch as well. It is combined with a kill switch as well.

You'll need the stock tail light holder. This will serve two fold as it really stiffens up the rear fender.

To get the stock tail light to work you will have to put a little jumper on the molex plug behind the number plate, or get the stock euro light switch.

Berger was telling me all you need then is the stock front brake light switch and you will have a brake light.

In lieu of the stock headlight switch combo I can help you with where to put the jumper to get the tail light to work.

And I'll second the TT switch it's pretty sano.

Where did you get the bike?

My dealer has the OEM headlight and taillight in stock. He has also installed the Trailtech X2 HID on a few bikes. Give him a call and he can get you all set-up. Tim at Edelmann Sales in Troy, NY. 518-663-5573

Let me know if you have any questions about the bike. I have been racing a FE450 in the NETRA Enduro and Harescramble series. You can email me at [email protected]

Safety wire the spark arrestor or it will fall out very quickly.

Thats not a spark arrestor. If it is a spark arrestor ,it is not a U.S. approved one.
That's not a ticket you want to get.

are you talking about the end piece with the screen inside, appears to thread in.Does it have a tendency to back out?

It functions as a spark arrestor, and yes, it isn't USFS approved or it would have a marking or sticker somewhere on it to say so, and yes, the fines can be steep, especially if you start a fire.

But until you get a USFS approved spark arrestor and install it, it is best to ride with the screen that comes with it as it does serve that function and you don't want to start a fire. It will back out after riding just a little bit and being an exhaust part you don't really want to put Loctite there, but I suppose you could. I am going to safety wire mine until I find and install a USFS approved model.

www.promotobillet.com makes one that:

1) is USFS approved
2) fits our bikes (KTMs)
3) is blue

what could be better?
Thats what I am running presently. I took some fab work to make it work. I would pass on it if I was to do it over again. I think the Leo Vinci muffler BOSS is selling would be my choice. USFS approved and it comes with a few different inserts.
