Hey guys, just signed up so new to this site.

I currently have a 98 KTM LC4 and i am looking at getting a new bike, i have a mate who has an 06 Yamaha WR450 and a cousin with an 05 KTM 450 EXC, both are fantastic bikes.

I have been looking into the Husaberg range lately and i am really confused now on which of the 3 to go with, and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Anything up from an 2004 should be fine.

450 or a 650 have not heard good reports about 550 in desert use here in Aus.

the 650 likes the open areas , but it is happy in the twisty stuff . if you don't mind adrenalin pumping inside of you then the 650 is the way to go .

i have not tested the 550 , and i had a squirt on the 450 and that was impressive .

the only problem you will have is keeping the front wheel on the ground .

05 or 06 ??

I will be buying a brand new bike, possibly just for the novelty factor of buying something new.
Is it worth waiting until the 07 comes out?

husaberg are always improving their bikes , so the 07 model will speak for itself .

all husabergs are good bikes , 04 onwards are much improved

the 05 models are going at a good price in oz , if there is any left .[ new ]

I am gonna say that your age, weight, strength, endurance, and riding style have a lot to do with which bike you might choose. Bigger, stronger, younger, go with the bigger bike, more so if you ride in more wide open terrain. With no knowledge of your vital statistics, it is still safe to recommend the 550. It is just plain old fashioned excellent in all conditions. Good luck, and have fun shopping!

I am 22, 6'2 a mid 70 kg's (around 165lbs) a full day riding on my current bike is not a problem endurance wise, i am guessing a new berg would be a fair bit lighter than mine.
The bloke in the bike shop tells me i dont want anything other than a 450 because the bigger bikes will only suit 110+ kg (242 lbs) guys and that anything other than a 450 would tire me out after a couple of hours riding.
I figure there is no weight difference and the power output is regulated by your right wrist? i could be wrong, plus i tend to short shift on my bike anyhow.

Get a 550! I have a 450, I love it. I am in my 50's, I can ride the 450 like a maniac without tiring so much. If I were 10 years younger, I would be on a 550. If I had a 550 now, I would only wish for a 450 at the end of the day, or in really tight places. The 450 is plenty fast, probably as fast as the 550 most everywhere, but it does lack the WOW factor when turning the throttle at times.

I had the same dilemma and a friend gave me some good advice:
If you're riding for fun factor it's hard to wipe the smile off your face with a 550 throttle in your hand, besides if you're on a 450 going up a hill and your mate passes you on his 525 you'll be thinking I should have got the 550, If you're on a 550 going up a hill that thought will never come into your head because no mates will be passing you. Having said that I have owned a '98 KTM620, 2001 426, a KTM 525 and now a berg 550... most impressed by the 550. In fact my friend once bought a Berg 450 and the next year traded up to the 550 because that thought was always lingering while riding. ANd if you can still source one the '05 550s are a great deal now new, in Australia.

The guy is full of baloney. I weigh 155 lbs & love mine. It feels lighter & easier to ride than my 520 & 525 did. I had the same thought you did, they weigh the same, (can't have too much HP). I've had mine for over a year, desert, tight trails, whatever, it's great.

I have an 05 650 and it is a great all rounder and really puts a smile on your dial.

thats fantastic faktor

may you mono off into the sunset on that thing , brother . :a: :w: :e: :s: : :m:
