A friend of mine is practically giving away a 97 Berg 501 FC. Aftermarket forks, he's not sure of the make and model other than they are conventional, extra set of wheels, some body work ,new in box vapor gauge, new top end, and its street legal. The only thing it needs is a clutch cover gasket, fork seals, and the gauge and lights hooked up. Not exactly hard stuff. I want it for some trail riding and maybe the evening ride around to the beach. Is there anything I need to look out for? Known issues? I realize its an old bike and there will be stuff that goes wrong but it seems like a good price. Also, Spare parts? Where can I get them? Last but not least, what other models are compatible with this model? They have seemed to been making the 501 engine for quite awhile, I guess if I found a parts fiche I would be able to determine what fits what. The main thing is breakable items like exhausts, body parts etc I want to be able to replace if damaged. Any other pertinent information would be great. The bike is in good running over aside from a few little things. Thanks!

I see there is a lot to look out for. I've seen your build on SMJ and its impressive to say the least! I think I'm going to pull the trigger. For what I want to use it for it will be more than fine.

 thanks!

post up some pics of the old girl if you get it!!!
