I just picked up a new 570 from Mark Donnovan at Shoals (stellar service). Rumors circulate about the internal "cush hub" which has resolved issues with the RFS tranny. I have run 10's of thousands of miles on a few 525's and have kept cush hubs on from day one to bypass any problems. I would like to find out if anyone has any insight into the new internal cush on the new KTM/ Husaberg motors as it relates to very high mileage durability in adventure riding conditions. The majority of riding the bike will see is more dirt oriented and international in nature.

I only weigh 135lbs which reduces a bit of wear/strain- It would be great to think i can save the $$$ and have that much less rotating mass....

Cheers,

Cyrus "Scooter"

I am no geek on the subject but at FR3 thats what Clay and the Husaberg guys were saying about the new bikes that you don't need them because they have something equivalent already. I did notice a difference when decelerating on ashfalt with the new bikes it was not such a dramatic event with the rear wheel.

thanks guys. from everything i've heard, i'm going brave without a rubber (cush hub that is) and will hook my buddy up with my old cush hub for his 525.

The old RFS motor needed the cush without question- thats why i have run the cush on any of my 525's. the answer for the new motor is stil somewhat up in the air....

the new 70degree motors do not have an internal cush drive, as don't the 450/530 EXC-R motors etc either

if you plan on much dual sport or tarmac best to fit a cush rear hub to make it last

they do, its built into the clutch hub, thr drz have been using these for over 10 years. they work well.

That's the same clutch basket as a KTM. I dont see anything indicated that it's damped either so I guess I'll have to check it out in person next time I'm at the parts store. The husaberg website clearly states that it has a damped clutch so it must be in there somewhere.

Well the FS 570 comes with a dampened hub. What does that tell you?

If you look at the parts book you can clearly see that there are 8 rubber cushion buttons on the back side of the clutch basket.

dale-eo- when you refer to "dampened hub", what exactly do you mean if it is not a "cush hub"? thanks

A dampened hub is a cush hub sorry for the confusion. I believe the parts book refers to it as a dampened hub.

So, with my old model 2005 FE 650 I don't want to spend another $1,680 on replacing gears that
have busted.
I have one ride on the new tranny and will do limited tarmac from here.
Will the 05 FS 650 cush hub from the 17 wheel swap out with my hub?
Just checking because I want to be sure to get the right hub to fit.
If not, what is the cush hub I need. I will be using the same spokes and rim I have now.

Thanks in advance,

Pollo

I have been on a number of rides recently, that involve riding on bitumen for about 20% of the ride. After reading a few posts tonight, it would seem that avoiding the bitumen as much as possible would be a better option.

Are graded dirt roads much better?
