Hey all, I've got it narrowed down to an 09 or 2010 FE 570 if I get anything new at all. I've done some searches and research on pricing and other questions regarding these machines, but still have some more questions.

I believe 09 is the first year of the new platform. Any issues with these? Rings, oil transfer, timing chain tensioner???

I can walk in right now and get a new 09 FE 570 for $7500 + around $800 in set up fees and freight. I think that's a good price.....but would I be unreasonable to grind on the setup and freight fee? I'm thinking about going for $7500 + Taxes and that's it.......

Do I need to have the dealer reflash the mapping on an 09? I think it's caled 'competition mode'

Thx for any and all input!

No real problems with the 09. A few noisy cam chain tensioners (Dirt Tricks tensioner is cheap insurance). The only plus to the 2010 for me would be the lights and spark arrestor.
There is a real low hour 09 demo for sale in Phoenix. I would almost bet that 7K would get it out the door. If you get an 09 you will want it reflashed, I'm pretty sure the demo one would have been reflashed.

Thx dude. Would you say you are completely happy with your '09 ?

Absolutely. 2 years old, 100 hours and pretty much zero problems. I have replaced tires and a chain. Replaced the chain at 60 hours only because it had some rust on it after a week of riding in CO.

Had to put lights on it and a Leo Vince X3 for the spark arrestor. (I like the X3, very quiet, comes with 3 different inserts).

I'm assuming you put lights on from a 2010 (factory lighting). How much did it cost for the front and rear lighting stuff. Also, is it plug and play (prewired on the bike)?

Grant,
I have a friend here in phx. with a 2009 fe 570 that is in immaculate condition. He is tempeted to sell it to get a 390 or 450 because he is in his fifties and is looking to go a little smaller. The bike has less than 20 hours and has the factory light kit, akropavic exhaust and a host of other nice stuff. I know you could save yourself some money over new. Let me know if you would like his number to talk to him

I put the factory tail light in and aTrailtech X2 HID on the front. Maybe $150-200 on the tail light and brake switch, probably $350 on the Trailtech and Trailtech switch. Bike is pretty much prewired. When they were brought into the country, they had lights on them but the importer removed them (I would love to know where those parts went).
