So I have a 2011 FE 390 my problem is just on the last ride I stopped and pulled over with the group, then I went to start the bike and take off the bike started and then couched and stahled I tried to start the bike again and all it did was turn over almost like it was out of fuel. I know it was full of fuel, after roughly 20 minutes it just fired up and away we went. Then about 2 hours later it did it to me again but this time the fan turned on for about 2 seconds after the bike died. So I started the bike back up and it did the same thing couched and died then the fan turned on for 2 seconds.
Any help or suggestions would be a great help guys. We have a week long trip planed so I would like to have this fixed first!
Thanks guys

Sounds like a fuel pump dieing

Can you hear the pump cycle or turn on if you bump the start button with the bike hot. Pretty common issue on these

Fuel pump is still working, so I header wrapped my pipe and heat taped the bottoms of the tank. I also found a burnt out fuse in my fan so that's going to help keep temps down now I hope

Mine use to do that when I went through puddles. Replaced the sparkplug cap and never had a issue. I've had to do it on my fx450 and my fe450 seems to be a weak spot that is similar to the fuel pump issue.

I had the same problem with my '09 570. I thought I had run out of fuel. It turned to be vapor locked from boiling the fuel. I removed the ball valve from the fuel cap. "Most important". I ceramic coated the pipe and wrapped with pipe wrap. Removed tank and installed CVO blanket. I have not had any problems since. Ride On!

I agree with mx dave. Check that the spark isn't getting redirected. My brother's plug wire was arching to the frame or radiator when doing water crossings. U could actually see it in low light...

If it isn't that then it will most likely be the fuel pump overheating....

UPDATE
So we just got back from camping this weekend after doing the mods listed above.
First ride out just wanted to see if my mods made a difference, nope about 20 minutes into the ride it started to act up, same as the orginal post!
Second ride out I switch that cheap map switch from 2 down to 1 just to see if it made a difference. Nope same problem.
Third ride out I filled up my bike with 87 octane fuel not 91, and switched the map switch from 1 down to 0. I also told myself that any chance I could get I would shut the bike off to let cool Down. The bike seemed to work like new. I have no idea what mapping is in the bike and really what the numbers on the dial are but the bike seemed to run great!
Any suggestion what it could be?

i'm reaonably hopeless on the mechanical side of things but i don't think the mapping would make a difference?

have a look through this post: http://husaberg.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16204

was your bike built before 0ct 2011? the fuel pumps could be dodgy before then.
also, until 2012 the fuel filter mesh in the FI system was too fine and got easily clogged.

possibly the most relevant bit will be moto's post: Heat buildup from the motor caused issues with some older fuel filters causing them to swell and restrict fuel. Most people fit a Can-am fuel filter and do away with the fuel quick disconnect.
Heat buildup causes the fuel to boil, especially at low fuel levels. The resolution to the problem can be by fitting an aftermarket exhaust which is much free'er flowing reducing heat buildup, wrapping the header pipe or lining the bottom of the fuel tank with a heat blanket or reflective heat tape. Sometimes all of the above.

Well the map switch will only change the ignition map and not the fuel map. Most guys have the bike remaped to the competition tune this has to be done at the dealer. I really doubt this will fix your issue. Best thing I can suggest is see if the Fuel pump is working when the bike acts up or quits.... Or buy a CA cycle works pump for 120$ put it in and ride on I have yet to here of one of these failing like the factory units

Everyone keeps in saying to delete the inline filter and go get a can-am fuel filter. I have had my tank off and looked at the inside I noticed there is a fuel filter in ther also, I'm assuming that's not the one people are talking about replacing with the can-am filter! I do know where the inline filter is and there is no filter in it? Is the quick connect just where that screen they talk about is?

Sounds similar to my mates 390 probs. He tryed different things but it was random, but end result to fix problem was
1- a faulty spark plug that would short when hot, and 2- dirt, which attracts moisture under the spark plug caps (plug and lead covers )and then short out.Another thing which caused this apart from slack maintenance was the radiator cap was releasing sometimes and the over flow tube directed the water/steam onto the spark lead. This was extended further down and a new radiator cap fitted. Problem has gone for him now.

I just installed a new CA fuel pump but I'm having a hell of a time getting the pump to prime and the bike to fire
