Hello! Long story short: Berg go boom.

I have a 2011 FS570 that I need a complete new engine for. Does anyone have a line on a crate motor, or suggestions as to where I might look? I'm located in Canada, but I'd ship from pretty much anywhere, since I love this bike so much ...

Hey Trex.. dont you LOVE this forum? warm and fuzzy.. get alot of replies?? yea.. yea..

Haha
It's kind of expected. I've been a lurker for about three years. Always found this forum to be full of really excellent technical and experience-developed device. Most of my time is spent on a more, umm, "social" forum on SMJ.
But Husaberg.org is a great resource, and hopefully someone here can help.

On a related note, what is the difference between the 09 FE570s and the 2011?
There's one for sale I saw that I figured I could swap the engine out into my FS from, plus have a full FE setup, too, ... for about the same as the quote I got for assembling a new motor from OEM parts... Thoughts, Husaberg experts?

Is the engine salvageable at all? Rebuild? Or it new engine only. Haven't heard of any differences in the 09-12 engines.

It's completely kacked. Top end, bottom end, and the oil pump. Put it this way - for the quote I have to rebuild it from OEM spares, I could buy an entire new bike. And with the cult following that this bike has, there aren't a lot around, unless you want to pay through the nose.

There aren't any differences between the 2009 and 2011 models, except for compression, it appears.

Here's the 2009 specs: www.motorcycle-usa.com/24810/Buyers-Gui ... FE570.aspx

and here's the 2011 specs: www.motorcycle-usa.com/26625/Buyers-Gui ... 570-S.aspx

Only difference appears to be compression. (*It's a moot point for me ... seller had already sold the 2009 bike and forgot to take down the ad)

If I have to shell out for a replacement bike, it'll be an FE570, so I can have both setups, and either part the rest of the bike out, or keep it for spares. (Yep, it's an expensive solution). There are a couple 2011s around, so I will see what happens in the next few days.

I'm just hoping that some Husaberg racing team has a spare engine sitting in a box somewhere, and now that the new bikes are out, they don't have a use for it anymore. *pipe dreams*

they reckon the models before oct 2011 had the dodgy fuel pumps, all good after that. although technically not part of the engine.

From my rusty memory:
There was an upgrade to the Cam Chain Tensioner from 2010.
There was a small mod to the bracket off the head on the 2009 models. More info in this URL:
09 fe 570 cracked head
Also the 2009 ran a oxygen sensor and from 2010 they didn't.
All minor things.

I saw 2 boxed engines advertised on UHE by user Gazza sometime back. I assume they where his racing teams spare engines. Send Gazza a PM, ya never know your luck.

Already got the dirt tricks tensioner and fuel pump... Will give gazza a pm and see what happens!

I have a 570 engine here. as you know my 570 was stolen a fortnight ago so developing the bike is going to be a problem now..... it is from a 2011. low miles.

I have the injector and the exhaust as well. I'm in England obviously! there'll be import duty involved at your end I'm afraid and last time I checked the postage was $120US. It could pay to have the engine split and sent over in boxes.

I need to get some small feature work done for a cam design and HC piston first. price is 'POA' as the old saying goes!

regards

Taffy

Hope you find a Motor :( that sux big time. Keep lookin.. I hope you have another ride in the mean time?

No ride at the moment. I had been planning to buy a complementary bike for next year, but I think my plans just got moved up.
My berg is my track day/late night hooliganism/backroads attack weapon. Looking to add something a little more comfortable for long distances, but has the same kind of DNA.

Yea trex I thought I was a KTM guy after my love affair with my fe570 and husky630.. but I recently got a crf450x.. MAMMMMAAA!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE is back in my liffe.. wooooohooo baby.. you should get a beater jap bike to throw around.. you wont look back.. of course.. keep your berg .. but just take a walk on the dark side.. :)

Just to say (aloud) that I'm looking for a cam and a HC piston for this engine so can folk step forwards if they can help?

I think CP do a piston? as for the cam well I',m not sure but isn't the top end on these the same as a list of KTMs?

and the engine is one of a series of KTM engines?

if people know would ya Holla!

Taffy

I love your *******..........

not as big as mine though......

Taffy

Cp sure do make pistons for the LDC, I have one in a 4 mm oversize :D pro x is another option, the cam is straight out of ktm, I'm waiting on a rod so I can enjoy my new to me thumper racing cam. Make has a std bore hi comp CP piece in his bike, I'm pretty sure torque monster runs the same 104 mm CP piston as me but on a stroker crank. From what I can tell a 570 is a stroked up ktm 530 and shares the top end but a different crank, cases etc, Alice racing in Germany or GW racing also provide tuning parts.
