OK guys, I am sure somebody on here other than me has big feet! I need a longer shifter than the stock one that is on my '99 FE400. What other shifters will fit so I don't have to spend $60 on a factory berg shifter thats one inch longer than stock?

Mine a reshaped mid '80s XT600 lever. Spline is same and it has a rubber thingy that helps stop your shoes getting chewed up.

i have heard the the shifter from an atk will fit and is long.

shiftless

I just cut all four shifter levers on my bikes and gas welded a 1.5' piece of steel between the two. I have size 14 shoes works for me.

Extend the old shifter

I just bought a 98 FC501 used and the previous owner extended the existing shifter (cut in half, add a 1 inch metal bar, re-weld on either end). Strong as can be and free, free, free.

Thanks for the replies, I guess I will just get after it with the mig welder and fabricate it exactly how I want it. Seems like that is the norm. That $60 will be better spent on fuel than on a new shifter anyway!
