There was a few Husabergs at the recent Natterjack competition. This included a combo unit! There was a lack of knowledge about this site. But I did my best to spread the word.
I was doing a bit of marshalling, I took my berg, but opted to slum it on the Harley as I need to train for the 24hr next year!{ this is the venue for the 24hr, so wanted the course time} The Natterjack is a 2 day event , each day was spread over 40km, with a MX test and an Enduro test. Not all classes were allowed into the enduro test as it was a bit hardcore...ask anyone who rode it! Especially the poor souls that got stuck in the "bog" or struggled on the "hill".
My highlight was passing a KTM on the hill in the special test, as I passed him on the Harley he could only shake his head in disbelief!
One of the bergs was a hire bike. he was in the veterans section, after the "special test" on the Sunday, I did not see him again after the first lap, so not sure if he finished! it was a tidy machine...but would expect that from a hire bike!

The new BMW G450X was there as a demonstrator, but would not allow anyone to have a roadtest! I have heard nothing good about this machine! I had tried to get a roadtest on the special test, but the salesperson went over to the easy section with the same terrain as a trail ride! Doubt she will get salesperson of year...unless they are desperate to hide something!!!!

RE: Natterjack

I've put my deposit on one (BMW) and may pick it up at the weekend, time permitting. i will let you know what its like if you are interested.

RE: Natterjack

speaking with the timing crew the bmw's where something to do with plymouth off road.

didnt think they had actually been released yet as i know several riders who are sponsored in the uk to ride rallys on the g650x who haven't even been allowed to have a go ( though this was 1 month ago when last spoke with them)

what negatives have you heard? as far as i'm was aware hardly anyones ridden them?

RE: Natterjack

I was interested in these 450x's. But I spoke to an old boy in midwest racing t shirt. He reliably informed me that when they have been in various enduro comps, they have broke down and hurriedly been put back on the van and hidden away. But it is fair comment to say they are still a development machine so teething problems have to be expected. I am not sure about the speedo pick up. it gets its feed from the back wheel! So if you spin the back wheel it will register a longer distance than you actually rode. But if it switches off when it gets wet...I suppose that will compensate for it!!

Cypher, where you at the Natterjack?

RE: Natterjack

wasn't down there but the lot that did the timing live up the road from me.

quite a few euro bikes take the speedos from the rear wheel or used to gasgas, sherco, tm, beta to name a few. why they do this is anyones guess as you say go thru a bog and its "look mum i'm doin 120 mph thru this bog!" as the wheel spins up.

he was probably just trying to get your money for a '09 berg from mid-west :D

RE: Natterjack

I still got a test drive booked! But I am just not convinced that this is the machine for me. I will wait for a few years to see how it dervelops. i think the '09 Berg is 100% a better investment!!!!
But I am so clearly biased. I would love a newer Berg than my '99 FE501!

RE: Natterjack

just checked the price of the bmw. £6116 on the bmw web site so same as all the rest really

RE: Natterjack

I was sent a leflet from a dealer in Dorchester...He quotes £5101, so a lot cheaper than most!!!!!

thats hell of a knock down from the advertised bmw price.

usually you can get new bikes for a couple of hundred less than advetised retails but £1015 is a major saving if its right, unless of course the price on the bmw site is wrong.

RE: Re: RE: Natterjack

Scouser, could you check that out as it seems far to much of a discount, i'm about to pay for mine at the list price of £6116.
thanks

RE: Re: RE: Natterjack

Sammo,
Having difficulty with their website. It is C W Motorcycles in Dorchester. You may have more luck! The demonstrator at the Natterjack...her shop was selling it for £5995, that was a BMW dealer somewhere near Petersfield.

RE: Re: RE: Natterjack

Thanks Scouser,
I will mention it to my local BMW dealer, i know the salesman there, he comes out riding the green lanes with us. He said he would fit the works graphics decals on it for me, i think they are over £100 to buy. anyway i will see if i can squeeze a little more out of them. I may get it friday, all going well. Thanks for the info.

Bmw Test

Just had a day out with a couple of mates on the new BMW. The bike was the one that was at natterjack from Barhnstormer, Farringdon near Alton. The price they quote is as Scouser says, £5995.As for the bike, once we had tweeked the forks it was very good, as good if not better than my 08 550. In the woods it was great turned on a dime felt very light and manoverable. On the more open going was'ent as good as the 550 for obvious reasons. This demo bike was still bog stock with cat exhaust and the low power chip. At speed not so easy to lift the front wheel, but it seemed to find grip and hook up whenever you needed to. On a tight wet woods enduro this would be a dam good tool.

RE: Bmw Test

Billberg,
As you rightly say it was Bahnstormer. so therefore is the one you are on about in Alton. You are very lucky...I wanted one of the BMW 450's but the salesgirl would not let me take it around the "special" section!!! I did it on a Harley Davidson so would not think it too much to ask from the Beemer!

Bmw Test

Scouser,
Yes they are on the A32 about 2miles south of Alton. Any news on the weekend at Bovy
