Hi,

I've just joined the site after buying a near new 2005 FS650e. I bought the bike from a dealer in Penrith Australia after they had bought it back from a customer who had used it for an hour at a track. The story goes that the customer bought the bike to use the engine in a road racing frame in a class called BEARS (British, European, American Racing Series), anyway the rules were changed so the frame he was using no longer qualified and that's when he sold it back to the dealer.

The bike is in near new condition and still has a large amount of the warranty left, the clincher was that the price was over a thousand less then the already discounted price on the 2005 models.

Anyway sorry for the long post put after owning a few KTMs (my son is racing KTM 50SX) I am blown away by the Husaberg, it's design and looks make other bikes seem dated and the sound it makes when riding is just unreal. But I guess everyone here already knows this.

I was hoping that someone could tell me, maybe one of the Australian members on here, is my bike meant to be fitted with the handlebar mounted 3 way speedometer switch? And is the tool kit meant to come with a tool for adjusting the preload on the front forks?

Thanks is advance.

the switch can be mounted next to the speedo {like on mine } or on the handlebars .

i have 05 enduro forks , the preload can only be adjusted internally .
unsure about 05 fs forks.

So the switch doesn't come standard on 05 bikes? My forks have 4 holes in the fork cap, I'm guessing these are for preload adjustment?

i have the 04 model 650 , with 05 suspension . did you get the manuals with your bike ?

give sutto's a call , they will have the info you need .

You can adjust the preload on the FS forks just by turning the 8-sided nut up on top with a regular wrench-thingy (should probably be called something I don't know in english :( ). The holes are for disassembling the fork with a special tool.
The FE models don't have the same cap on top of the forks.
You can download the manuals from www.husaberg.se
But I don't think the manual show the FS fork, only the FE.

On the 05 model (at least here in the EU) you should not have to use the extra three-button switch. The buttons are built in the instrument. Here, we got a more slim instrument on the 05 models.

Mine has the slim type speedometer with buttons on the face, but I want to fit the 3 way switch for when I'm at the track, it will be a bit hard to reach in behind the bars to start/stop the lap timer (I'm assuming the 05 speedometer has a lap timer as I can see it briefly flash up on the screen when it powers up) when i cross the start/finish line.

Aha, then probably the best solution is to mount it next to the controls on the clutch side of the handlebar. But I'm guessing you will need to do some soldering to get that to work since the wiring harness doesn't have the loose ends for the external switch. Just guessing since I haven't neede to look into that on my own bike. And if so you might whant to build an even better switch.
