I've owned 3 differnet berg's over the years with no local dealer. Online part sourcing was getting tiring so I was very excited to hear about a local Berg dealership starting up. http://www.internationalmotorsports.com
I decided 2 weeks ago to buy my 4th berg, the first I've bought from a local dealer. I picked up a demo 09 FE450 with 1.7 hrs on the clock. It was in displayed in a lineup of 10-15 bikes, very tightly packed and I never gave it a good once over (foolishly). After I paid for the bike and it was brought outside the store for me to load I notice the foot on the kickstand is broken off! I asked the salesman how he could sell me a bike with a broken kickstand he says "I thought you noticed it". Well, buyer beware, I should have done my due diligence. But still, I don't treat my customers this way. ( A buddy of mine bought a demo 09 FE570 and it had zero flaws, I assumed they all had the once over done before being sold). The salesman says "don't worry I can get you a new kickstand for $85". Later I discover the foot of the kickstand can be replaced seperately, to the tune of $5.00. So now I'm feeling like this guy is trying to gouge me too! The salesman also says to me "the bike has fresh oil, its ready to go". Once I got the bike home, I dumped the oil straight away anyways because at this point I'm suspisous. Good thing cause it was black. Then I pull the main screen out and it's coated with ****.
Mabey I'm being petty here, but when I drop good money on a bike I expect decent service. I don't take to lying very well, and mabey the salesman was somehow mis-informed, but man you better make sure you know what your talking about before opening your yap. I am left with a bad taste in my mouth and figure I better go back to dealing with my berg's myself, I have yet to find a good dealer nearby. My previous 2 bikes were bought in-crate from Scott at Ross Rocher and he has always been a pleasure to deal with in comparison.
I'm sure other people might have better experiences (or mabey worse), but hopefully when a new buyer puts together a handful of other's opinions they can avoid pitfalls and make informed choices about where to spend their money.

ps- The parts guy Mike was awesome to deal with.
