welcome falkenberg to UHE!!!!
firstly, we have many, many icelandic members here and they all speak better english than fryguy (he's a canadian!!!!) so can you congratulate the english teacher in your school?
you probably bought the bike off a member anyway!
the battery you must get is called a YTZ7S. it is a 'Gel-Cel' battery and is more powerful than the original. look up the doc for info on this.
you can even pick up a used wiring loom from ebay but eitherr way yes you can have full lights with effort.
there are modifications you may want to carry out to the starter as well to update it. again, it's in the doc. always start the bike with the kicker from could even though it can electric start. the sprague bearing lasts around 40 starts and then starts to slip.
look to
upgrade the tensioner blade
modify the tensioner
go to a more powerful yet at the sssame time less viscious cam
upgrade to 'dual springs'
check you have the steel camwheel
check the wear on the camchain
check the follower bearings for condition and also the rocker shafts and rocker bushes. if the shaft is worn then just replace this. if the bushes in the rockers are gone then you need new rockers and these were upgraded in '03 to run 7.8mm pins.
the decomp lobe may be worn and if so will need one from a later model.
the bottom end is generally good but they had a habit of sticking in gear.
the stato, which runs inside the flywheel fails in 6-months or up to 2-years but it will fail! so we send them to 'sparks' in spain who does a superb repair!
this will all make sense once you read through the doc.
the carb can be a pig on them if you still have the dell orto. the atomiser wears out and the needle with it. there is a chance that a jet is missing inside as well!
