guys i am new on here and love the site I have a problem my feet, when they are placed on the foot pegs they are under the gear change lever and under the rear brake lever , especially bad for braking 8O I have adjusted both levers down but I can`t get enough adjustment My feet angle down at a 45 degree whilst sitting on the bike. This is making it really hard to ride well. I think I may need shorter legs or higher pegs Any suggestions appreciated :?

Check into a higher seat. Have the balls of your feet (not the arches) on the pegs.

have a look at a product called '' pivot pegs '' , they could help you .

Don't let you feet stick down. First stub or rock hitting your foot will really hurt you. Better to let the heels stick down, if anything, obstacles hit will then take your foot off the footrest, not off the leg. From the subject "my feet" I assume you have not learnt it already the hard way. Doing what Neil_E. says will help a lot.

I had to conciously tach myself to ride with my toes in when I got the berg, not flared out like you do on some of the wide engined jap thumpers, but toes down?.... are you tall or short, cause body geopmetry could have a bit to do with it, and maybe some fastway pegs, which you can raise / lower or a tall seat might help?

go into gallery

go into "steve" and look at what he did to his footrests. i think he said that they were the single best mod he ever did to his bike...

Thanks for all the replies guys, I am 6' 2'' and take a size 11.5 boot. I ride on the road, the bike is a FS650. I have yet to get a pair of riding boots was thinking about getting sidi crossfires with the replaceable sole. Taffy, had a look at the foot pegs in steves gallery was thinking of something similar but raising them instead of lowing them. I saw a high seat on ebay awhile ago, wish now that I had got it. Can any one tell me how much higher they are? I could then sit on a piece of foam to see if it would improve things. I am going to gaffer tape some blocks of wood on top of the foot pegs to see how much higher they would need to be. I have had this problem with all bikes that I have owned, now that I think about it. Got to get this one right to be able to ride nearer to its full potential. Thanks for the ideas.

higher pegs would be a no-no on the dirtbecause the gearlever turned up would always be knocked up as you came to obstacles. second to third = no problem but first to neutral ain't fun!

for most people the seat is the answer. you'll only go up 1" but it will feel a lot more! i added even more to mine and loved it. look up comfort in the doc or it may be in handling?

Taffy

If you havent ridden in dirtbike boots yet, that might help to rectify the problem, most boots are very stif and strongly resist a great deal of toe up / toe down and outward flare of the feet, I have Oxtar TXC Pros, which are meant to accommodate ankle pivot like the Sidis, but I know that I can dangle my toes down with workboots on , but not with the Oxtars.

Im only 5'10" so my toes would only point downward when im tippee toeing at a corner or laying on my guts after a get off - bike ergos dont enter the equation. :(

Well, you could ride these bikes with no boots on the road, although they were built as enduro machines first, then adapted for supermoto.

Once you have boots on, it will seem harder at first. It's just as hard when you put a new model of boots on.

After that you will find your marks.
