Hello people,
I own a 97 Husaberg Fc 600 supermoto, its fully road legal, i did it all right passed the test and so began the story, the first day the exhaust fell off on the way to work, (promise everything was checked) That night on the way home the rear sprocket came loose. The second was day was fine, on the third day one of the tappet pads fell off and went through everything. The rebuild on the motor is going to cost around £1000 the misses is going mental. My question is For all the pain and money Is it worth it? Bear in mind for 100 miles if i add it all up the running costs are somewhere near £1500, (even as i write this i think yer but remember that sound) Also an other question They is no chain guide on the swing arm is this normal for road bikes?

What a 'mare of a story... I feel for you!

To answer your question (is it really worth it?), I went through a similar thing with a classic car I bought a few years back... to cut a long story short it had a knackered engine and needed a £6k rebuild (honestly!).

I guess it comes down to how passionate you are about the bike and what you want from it mid-long term... yes, it's a helluva stack of cash to lavish on 100 miles of riding, but at least, post-rebuild, it'll be fully sorted and, subject to regular maintenence/upkeep, should keep you smiling (worry free!) for a long while to come.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Be good...

Thanks man, its nice to hear from somebody who has been in the same boat, i am a week into the repair and the crank is away to have a new pin and bearing, am just getting all the other bits together. It was good fun taking the engine to bits as i had to do it at mum and dads house so dad helped me/ encouraged me. I think that last few things are a clutch basket, cam and crank gears.

yes, yes, they did get a bit of a bad name in the end, Other than the old K head gasket problem they were a good car, Anyway back to the berg, the spring has been blasted today getting powder coated 2moz. That's one job less.

Post some pics of her when she's done.

Good on ya for keeping the faith - I've a feeling you've made the right decision sticking with it, despite the initial expense and disapointment. Nothing more satisfying than knowing you've got a proper sorted bike, more so when you do the bulk of the work yourself.

Be Good!
