Out with the old, in with the new !

Sold my 09 KTM530 EXC-R a few weeks back and now I have the bike I really wanted in the first place, a 2010 Husaberg FE570

So far I have only ridden her about 70 kms (rectify that real soon !), but that 70 kms has been real sweet !
Never have I felt so comfortable with a bike immediately than I have with the Berg. Gobs of power, but delivered in a silky smooth, no fuss way. Nimble as 250 and so easy to weave through tight stuff. Typical quality european stuff that leaves the jap bikes floundering.

Hopefully I will be riding this week on my favorite track and will report back then with a comparison between my old KTM and my new Berg.

Friends will be coming along for the ride on an 09 TE510 and 09 FE570, so we will be able to swap and compare (especially with the new 22 offset tripple clamps on mine).

I have swapped brands and bikes regularly in the last few years DRZ to CRF to TE to EXC-R to this FE, but I reckon I have finally found a keeper in the Berg.

Couple of pics of yesterdays ride.

2 of us went on some of our favourite local tracks on our 570's. Mix of hard pack sandy beach, soft sand hills, tight bushy single track, and some open road high speed stuff.
Both bikes performed faultlessly. Hit that button and she fires into life with no fuss or hessitation. Click her into gear and hang on. It handles everything you throw at her in a matter of a fact way, no fuss, no bother. She tips and turns, doesn't shake her head like the KTM, and loves trying to rip the knobs of the tyres.
The power is supurb and delivered in a very controlled way, and I just love it !!
You want a stand up power slide ? you got it !!
You want to be lazy and not shrt shift her ? you got it !
All I can say is WOW !! FI delivers the goods.
I thought she might be a handfull in the tight stuff, but the big berg just dips and weaves her way through like a little 250 smoker !

I had the map switch set to standard and decided to do a fuel consumption test. Filled her to the brim and went riding. (I don't believe in soft break in's, I ride them hard from the word go).
The factory fitted low fuel light started flickering at round 105 Km's and became steady at 110 kms. As I was carrying spare fuel I kept going to she ran dry, which was at the 135 km mark !! (sorry for you guys in miles, but that's around 85 miles ??)
I am quite happy with that figure (I was expecting less). My KTM got around 145, but that had a 9.2 liter tank compared with the Bergs 8.5

It will do what I need to do without the need for the sub frame tank alterations.

All in all a very good bike and I am very happy to have a swede between my legs.
