2002 FS650e with 17" road wheels: just did a test tonight and got 7250rpm at 82mph in 6th gear. This seems a little high revving to me. I have 13 tooth sprocket on the front and 42 on the back. Should I increase to 15 teeth on the front and would it fit? as there doesn't seem to be much clearance between the chain and the clutch housing. Any thoughts?
I think the dirt bikes have bigger wheels (19" and 21"?)

13T front sprockets are rough on the chain and should only be used if you really need down low gearing.

A 15T front sprocket should do the trick for you.

My bike came stock with 16T/38T gearing and it felt much too tall. I could not use 6th gear unless I was doing 80mph. Maybe it was setup this way from the factory to pass some arcane government regulations. Now I'm running 15T/42T sprockets which feels about right.
